ANSI Z87.1

Postby shrimpy323 » Tue May 15, 2007 9:46 pm

I was wondering if anyone has tested these, (ANSI Z87.1) Point blank. A few shots at 400 FPS, would it survive? And would regullar shooting glasses (that Meet, or exceed) work, since they aren't full rap-around?

Thanks.

Tested what? The ANSI Z87.1 standard? If so, definitely, they exceed the strength required by to fend off AP FPS safety requirements. As far as shooting glasses are concerned, it depends on the glasses and the game. Full cover is required at some playfields while others aren't as concerned.

Yes. ANSI Z 87.1 will hold up to ANYTHING conventional airsoft can throw at it. I trust Z87.1 with 16d nails flying at my face. I trust it when a 6x6 composite header SNAPS because it's it under so much pressure, and send wood and staple shards flying at my face. Metal air valves ruptureing, sparks from a careless welder, ruptured hose spraying debris at me at 160PSI. Check check check.

I trust Z87.1 to airsoft.

Long enough when he's on a scoffold, and a forklift knocks you right under him.

That's some serious force, your .25g BB traveling at 400fps isn't even going to make a mark on the lens.

Thanks for all that guys. I just thought that the shooting glasses I bought looked a little flimsy, even though they exceed the Ansi rating.

Actually some sunglasses are also ANSI Z87.1-2003 compliant.

my Oakley M frame lense is rated to ANSI standards, it really depends on what sunglasses you are using and how strong the lense is

for instance, i just tested out my HD (Harley Davidson) glasses and they stod up until i shot them with a 700 FPS PSG1 point blank then they just cracked... i'm going to buy a new pair and use those at outdoor games.
