Rhododendron Wars Returns, May 19th

Postby Skywalker » Fri May 04, 2007 10:43 pm

Last year I hosted a game that was pretty successful. Well, I've decided to do the same this year.

What: Skirmish with varying game types
Where: Florence, Oregon, Field to be determined.
When: Saturday, May 19th 12:00 Start Time ends whenever
Why: Because we like to play bleeding airsoft
How: You show up

Last year:

Come enjoy not only airsoft but the sun and a fun celebration!

Well the Festival is actually the 18th-20th this year. It is now the 100th anniversary of the festival.

What I'm trying to say is, you don't have to come down for just airsoft. There is much more to do than that. Personally I like to check out the car show. There is also a carnival. For those runners out there there is a 5k and 10k "Rhody Run". You sign up, get a shirt, yeah whatever. There is, of course, a grandass parade on Sunday. I march in this so don't ask me to host on Sunday. There are multiple bands from all over that compete in this, it's rather...large.

Well, last year we just split up teams when they got there. It will be a lot easier on me and we'll have more game time if we coordinate through uniform. So, team assignments are as follows.
Woodland, ACU, Black, OD, Desert (3 clr, 6 clr), MARPAT (Desert), DPM (Desert)
vs.
Kendocrap, Flecktarn, Russian w/e, MARPAT (Temperate), DPM (Temperate)

If you have any questions concerning camo, or anything at all, please feel free to ask I would be more than happy to answer you.

DIRECTIONS:
Same field as last year. Edited the directions some.
Skywalker oh so graciously wrote:http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?bCTsettings=1
For the Directions, just enter where you are going to start from, and then enter the destination as Cushman, OR. Once on Highway 126 just over the bridge you turn left, and look for a road on the right side of the road called Bernhardt Heights Road (It will be a few miles down 126). It will be on the side of the road with railroad tracks. Bernhardt Hts will be blocked off and a newer road is to the right. Be warned that Highway 126 is a very rough highway. The road had great improvements and I almost any vehicle can now make it. Stay left until you come to a house, and you may park in the grassy field to make more room. The driveway is limited for space, so try not to block it. There will be people there to direct you to a parking space.

Look for arrows on the ground or signs. The main rule is stay on the road you are on until you pass under some rather low trees and see a very large scotchbroom infested field to your right. I will have a neighbor to the field clarify this final part soon.

Please state if you are planning to attend and do not hesitate to ask questions about anything on topic.

A game on the coast would be fun! Especially if it were in the dunes!

I'm confused.
What is MARPAT (Woodland)?

British stuff is pretty vague. Does that mean I have my choice of temperate or desert so long as it's DPM?

Thanks.

DAMMIT! I have drill.

I think "Marpat (woodland)" means temperate marpart.

Valid questions! I mean the darker colored MARPAT consisting of greens. I was throwing this post together in a hurry, i'm sorry. For "British stuff", I do mean to separate out Desert DPM from temperate. Desert being on the 1st team and the temperate on the second.

Very sorry for the inconvenience. Original post amended for clarification. Any more questions are welcomed!

I will have the info and directions for the playing field up within the next few days. Pics will be included.

I'm sorry guys but the desert (dune) field that I had planned on using is no longer available. I will still have the game but it will be held at the field it was last year. The pros for this are numerous, the largest being the varying terrain and very large playing area. Directions and info will be up soon. I'm only waiting to find if I need the waivers we did last year.

Thanks

Something that should be known is that there is a new road leading up to the top of the hill that you will need to take to get to the field. It's paved most of the way, but is longer and steeper. I will post pictures of the playing field and landmarks on the road.
