yeah sorry guys. the field just really doesnt want to take any risks with people using bio/eco bb's. if you didnt know they can shatter on the wire mesh and spray shrapnel acrost your eyes....i've tested it. im sure that ski goggles are allowed...buuuuut id call the field and ask

im not even sure if they will allow ski goggles or not. but if they are proper ski goggles and hard enough you can use them just fine....because if you will read ahead you will notice that it says bio/eco bb's only. meaning they will shatter on impact. no one is making you go or even saying that you have to go. so if you dont like the rules then dont complain

Think hes talking about the ESS style goggles. Look just like ski goggles just like the oakley A balastic A frames. Same stuff the millitary issues but not the old school trash goggles that had the laminated foam seal.
If force doesnt work...... your not using enough

I got into airsoft so I didn't have to wear paintball masks.

wow that a lot of complaining

Postby Konig » Fri May 04, 2007 10:26 am

you dont HAVE to wear paintball masks. you can use approved sealed goggles (such as ones made of super hard plastic) the paintball masks were only a example. was informed the other day that the field fee includes paintball mask..only if you want it! dont whine about masks anymore. no one is making you go. if you dont like how you cant use your airsoft masks then im sorry but oh well. thems the rules. they dont want anyone crying about loosing an eye when a eco bb shatters on the wire mesh and sprays shrapnel all over em. THAT is the reason why they are not allowing airsoft masks.

Okay look, I really don't mean to be a tool but I have to ask: what safety standard are you guys using for this event? What constitutes "super hard plastic"?

The standard here is the ANSI Z87.1-2003 standard, which is more then enough protection from even super hot AEGs fired from point blank. If this is your standard as well, you might want to consider revising your rules in the first post here to make that more obvious maybe have it say, "wrap around, full-seal goggles required that meet ANSI Z87.1 standards, wire mesh is not allowed". That would clear up everything that has been said here.

i dont work for the field so im not too sure. im just trying to get the word out but people just instantly have to start complaining. by "super hard" i ment stronger then those stupid lab goggles you use in science class. but yes the goggles must be sealed around the eyes to prevent a bb sneak (for those who dont know what the means its where a bb bounces of your cheek bone and into your eye) and they have to be wrapped around your head (for example the cant be losely fitted around your ears like regualr shop glasses or sungalsses. they need to have a band of some kind holding them to your head so they do not fall off when running or moving) and they can not be mesh lenses. just as long as they are hard enough to stop a bb from 5 feet away they should work fine. but i would recommend calling the field juuuust to make sure.
