this is a pretty big deal. maybe we should ask the news to come out and do a story on it to get some good press?

just an idea?

Am I the only one that doesn't care what the media thinks.
Getting them to come out to one of our games especially this one is a bad idea. both sides will be yelling things that the average person will find offensive and that is not good

A lot of us Tali's are gonna be running around in shemegs and the like shouting Durka Durka! Mohammad Jihad! and the like, and generally being as politically incorrect as possible. Some may literally have towels on their head.

I'm not so sure about a news crew myself...

Acid,

I applaud your enthusiasm. However, I think it might be a little misguided. Zeus and/or Dantes should be the only ones to call in the media. I think they have the proper perspective, understanding and experience to make that call. If they do make that choice, these guys will make sure the media gets the details right so they don't misrepresent the purpose of this exercise.

I'd love to see some positive exposure for the sport, but this particular event's basis could spark some major backlash which would result in negative exposure.

Leave it to the event administrators to make that decision.

I wasn't going to go call the news networks or anything, it was just a suggestion.

Sorry Acid... I guess I was a little bit harsh in my reply. I would just hate for something like that to backfire in our faces. I'm just enjoying this sport as a non mainstream thing. Paintball used to be kind of an underground thing that had some anonimity to it. Now that it's become noticed they've had to go PC. Now they are on ESPN and hide behind blow up bunkers and use "markers" instead of guns and people are "eliminated" instead of dead. It kind of ruined it a little. I'd hate to see airsoft go that way, and it would go that way very quickly because it is so realistic.

Again, sorry for the knee jerk reaction. (My wife said I sounded too much like a parent!)

oh no, i dont want it to be a televised sport or something. I just meant have someone come out and explain what we are doing, and show that not all airsofters are kids who buy guns at walmart and break laws with them.

General media has always been a bad experience, newspapers, news channels, whatever... They're all pretty one-sided on the gun debate. You want media coverage? We'll potentially have coverage of our event in 2 different Airsoft magazines distributed world-wide. Hows that? THAT is the kind of coverage we want.
