Thats the way I read "
I spent some time doing some research into the community you belong to, we've decided that we'd rather not be associated with your potential players."
And thats why I say its sad that I can understand their position - I don't want to be associated with the sexually retarded monkeys around here, so I can completely understand why they wouldn't want to be either. Lets be honest about things, there's a ton of retardedness around here. A certain level is to be expected, but when you get right down to it, a huge percentage of the potential event participants snack on paint chips regularly and it shows.
Alex, I'd write them back and see if there is anything we can do that would allow us to use their property. Explain that the type of events you host generally don't attract the retarded players.
But in all honesty, I'm surprised this is the first time this has happened with the way this community acts. And it's the same reason why I'm hesitant to direct people to this website when introducing them to airsoft.
Thus is life though....
With the "
I'm sorry this can not be resolved. " line, I dont think there is something we can do. I wrote back and thanked them for their time and consideration.
Sadly this isnt the first time that this has happened. I'm always on the look out for potential locations for events, and some of my friends/friends parents/my parents have put me in contact with various land owners over the years. I'm used to being shot down for various reasons - perceived dangers, potential damage to property, etc. Liability concerns rate highly among property owners who often indicate that if they decide to go for it, an event would be limited to 18+ because of immaturity of younger players.
I know that the more aware/mature people around here don't need to be told this, and that the mouth-breathers who get in the way won't bother reading this (
or will think that this doesn't apply to them), but we all need to keep in mind that quite often, we are our own worst enemy. Words have consequences. When we act like paint chip eating, 'mah speelling dont mater', social rejects, it interferes with potential good times (
hell - I need to keep that in mind too).
