You need to be organized and clearly have these radio channels in place before starting, so not only the commander knows how to reach a specific team, but anyone does.
Not everyone is going to have a HAM, I know I don't, so being able to communicate with everyone will be important, and using systems people are familiar with. Having an RTO would have been an essential advantage to keep the commander aware, and to be able to deploy units in critical areas in a timely fashion.
You're adding to my point here saying it was up to the team leaders to determine their channels, re-enforcing how unorganized that sector of this operation was.
riddick opened private forums for planing a month before the game even started. in there we did cover how we were going to communicate to the commander. if there was anything you didn't see fit for staging that was the time to say so.
the HAM radio communication part was successful, there was no one degrading the quality of communication and request on our frequency were responded to as soon as possible.
everyone is there to have fun, unless you are willing to be the RTO guy next time i doubt that some teenager is going to pay 30$ and hang around spawn half the game with a frustrated commander.
next time just make do of the situation and kill as many as you can, and remember:
Never tell the Platoon Sergeant you have nothing to do.
What the gentleman in that video is saying, has partial relevance to the picture you're trying to paint of what I'm doing. He said, do not berate people on the field... I did no such thing to the commander. And I certainly wasn't going ape shit screaming at people because I may have felt some discontent.
"Even if you see a mistake, try to give them some constructive criticism as opposed to what they did wrong." This is what the guy said in the video, and this is what I'm doing here.
Why would the RTO position not be fun? You're constantly engaged in events as they unfold, and you play an immensely critical role in providing the team with cohesion. Of course lines may break, and as an RTO you may be engaged, it does not mean you will not see combat at all, or be sitting there next a radio eating M&M's wondering what you were doing. I guarantee someone would want to do it because it is important.
I'm not painting a picture of I know everything, and yes it is easy to be a "Critic" as you are painting me to be. But I expect a hell of a lot more then what I saw out of the guy who has been tasked with running a 100 person team, and I am not the only one.
With regards to the Private Forums, I was aware of it and tried to participate in some of it. I even PM'd the team leader regarding the Chain of Command faults and had a recommendation, which was speedily shot down. This showed me unwillingness to consider other sources of information, so why would I waste my ideas or breath? And I'm okay with that, people will agree to disagree. And, I don't hold any sort of grudge towards Phoenix, I hope he understands that. I am providing perspective from someone who was on the receiving end of a failing command situation.
This is a MilSim environment yes? There are limits and only so much distance you can take this to... yes I know and agree with that as well. So with those things in mind, take into consideration Code789, that I don't expect overly realistic things to be occurring; but things that are reasonable and expected that should've been considered.
My AAR / follow up information can be taken as negative criticism, or constructive, I hope it is constructive, because that was the light in which I was gearing it towards.
As this is only "text" that you can read, there is no context in how I am trying to say this. Only a quick read, and then our minds start spinning wheels, assuming of course that the party who appears to be writing borderline negative literature, is out to get you or someone else. I understand where you are coming from, and the message you're broadcasting to me. I don't think I'm being over critical here about the notes, or even rude.
I appreciate you commenting on my AAR and placing your point of view.
