You need to be organized and clearly have these radio channels in place before starting, so not only the commander knows how to reach a specific team, but anyone does.

Not everyone is going to have a HAM, I know I don't, so being able to communicate with everyone will be important, and using systems people are familiar with. Having an RTO would have been an essential advantage to keep the commander aware, and to be able to deploy units in critical areas in a timely fashion.

You're adding to my point here saying it was up to the team leaders to determine their channels, re-enforcing how unorganized that sector of this operation was.

riddick opened private forums for planing a month before the game even started. in there we did cover how we were going to communicate to the commander. if there was anything you didn't see fit for staging that was the time to say so.

the HAM radio communication part was successful, there was no one degrading the quality of communication and request on our frequency were responded to as soon as possible.

everyone is there to have fun, unless you are willing to be the RTO guy next time i doubt that some teenager is going to pay 30$ and hang around spawn half the game with a frustrated commander.

next time just make do of the situation and kill as many as you can, and remember:
Never tell the Platoon Sergeant you have nothing to do.

What the gentleman in that video is saying, has partial relevance to the picture you're trying to paint of what I'm doing. He said, do not berate people on the field... I did no such thing to the commander. And I certainly wasn't going ape shit screaming at people because I may have felt some discontent.

"Even if you see a mistake, try to give them some constructive criticism as opposed to what they did wrong." This is what the guy said in the video, and this is what I'm doing here.

Why would the RTO position not be fun? You're constantly engaged in events as they unfold, and you play an immensely critical role in providing the team with cohesion. Of course lines may break, and as an RTO you may be engaged, it does not mean you will not see combat at all, or be sitting there next a radio eating M&M's wondering what you were doing. I guarantee someone would want to do it because it is important.

I'm not painting a picture of I know everything, and yes it is easy to be a "Critic" as you are painting me to be. But I expect a hell of a lot more then what I saw out of the guy who has been tasked with running a 100 person team, and I am not the only one.

With regards to the Private Forums, I was aware of it and tried to participate in some of it. I even PM'd the team leader regarding the Chain of Command faults and had a recommendation, which was speedily shot down. This showed me unwillingness to consider other sources of information, so why would I waste my ideas or breath? And I'm okay with that, people will agree to disagree. And, I don't hold any sort of grudge towards Phoenix, I hope he understands that. I am providing perspective from someone who was on the receiving end of a failing command situation.

This is a MilSim environment yes? There are limits and only so much distance you can take this to... yes I know and agree with that as well. So with those things in mind, take into consideration Code789, that I don't expect overly realistic things to be occurring; but things that are reasonable and expected that should've been considered.

My AAR / follow up information can be taken as negative criticism, or constructive, I hope it is constructive, because that was the light in which I was gearing it towards.

As this is only "text" that you can read, there is no context in how I am trying to say this. Only a quick read, and then our minds start spinning wheels, assuming of course that the party who appears to be writing borderline negative literature, is out to get you or someone else. I understand where you are coming from, and the message you're broadcasting to me. I don't think I'm being over critical here about the notes, or even rude.

I appreciate you commenting on my AAR and placing your point of view.

This was Phoenix's first time as CO at a big game, so I think constructive criticism is always helpful. He has some things to work on, but what I'd like to commend him on is the fact that he didn't just give up after we lost Hamburger Hill (sort of a linchpin to the line) and then (I think?) lost the village.

The main thing I'd like to say is if you're going to say you're coming, then show up. I had to move myself and someone else this weekend to new apartments, so I showed up after being awake for 30-40 hours and I still made it. AND played in the night game.

Also, this was my first time playing splat, and it was interesting. I had no idea where I was the whole day since I didn't look at maps before coming out and didn't really do any pre-game planning. It had a lot of hills, and combined with my two days of being awake and two packs of cigarettes from the packing the night before, really made me wish I "exercised" on a regular basis.

Also, it was fun shooting with/at SPECDET1. I think every time I was in a new area, I saw them, and since I just sort of roamed around like a newb, that means they were running all over the place.

One suggestion: For the night game, make it a little clearer, and maybe light up the sector points or make them glow. I was low crawling all over the hill looking for a point to switch during the night game.

Another suggestion: More gameplay! This was too short. B-)

Also, again, the color code system works, but a few people on both sides had questionable gear on. I saw a guy on brown with a desert tan jacket on.

I didn't see any non-hit calling, but I had such a garbage gun that if they didn't die I just assumed it was the gun and got even angrier at it.

This was a pain for me too. Marpat and Black tops look somewhat similar while wearing mesh goggles.

Comment removed. Apparently I'm wrong and Mcnair is always right. No big deal.

Thanks again Rick. :)

McLuvin,
Shut the shazaam up. I was one of the people sitting around the fire and we never hit hte bleeding call button. We just were sitting talking to people on the radio saying stuff like "what are you wearing?" etc.

So before you run your mouth, know the situation, jackass.

Also, next time you have an issue like that, why don't you approach the people instead of being a phony pony and complaining on the internet.

Actually, it's something I never do. Now hot mic-ing during briefing is a different thing.

I'm not "some teenager", but I payed $30 to be Mehdi RTO. I hung around spawn all day passing radio orders from my commanders, that is until we took so much battlefield we moved our forward base into the village. I even shot 3 fewls. Comms took a few minutes to wrangle, and there was the hot mic session, but was it worth it?

The last airstrike we sent just before the spawns swapped, and the death march that came after... that alone was worth $30.

Mehdi team, thank you for a job extremely well done. You guys all ran your asses off where and when we directed you, everybody with a radio worked it out within the first 20 or so minutes and handled comms like champs (hot mic session aside, you know who you are, fix that please), our supply and engineer people ran hard and brought the goods home (HARPER is the MAN!), not to forget our incredible squad leaders and their masterful display of skills.

Mossy, great job on comms.

Chesty and Ricochet, excellent job gentlemen. 'nuff said.

Awesome game, being a squad leader for Platoon 2 Bravo was a lot of fun :)
Sadly, thanks to no shows (14 people), our squad was only 7 men and we ended up pretty much joining Platoon 2 Alpha.

To the guy I traded my m4 for your javelin AK to, you (or one of your friends) took my airsoft northwest 3500mh NiMH battery. Please PM me so I can figure out how to get it back.

The average time for video to be released is around 2+ years.

Here is my AAR (a short one) and it will also be posted in the main game thread at the top.

Mehdi Wins!

Final Score:
Mehdi: 10,950
USRF: 7,700

Hats off to both teams for putting up a great fight. Good organization and execution of plans.

Thank you to my admins for helping me out and making this event a success. The same goes for my teammates who served as pre-game admins and help with all the other areas of interest that were needed.

There were a few hiccupps here or there but overall I think the event played exactly how I wanted/thought it would play out. I am glad many of you enjoyed the respawn rules and will be something I will utilize in future games.

There will be a final LOW event in 2012. Most likley either in April or June. It will be more of the same but we will be using a bunch of cool props we are designing and will begin construction on them very shortly. We will introduce a true marketplace experiance with several Arms Dealers and lots of props that go "BOOM". I am really excited for it as I think this will be the best one yet.

I applaud all of you that braved the potential nasty weather and played your hearts out. Again it goes to show you can never rely on the forecast. It never snowed where we were at. It also never rained on game day. We even had blue but partially cloudy skies all day and night.

To the flakes:About 80 of you should be ashamed of yourselves. To waste the time of everyone who invested their time into this event; Commanders, Players, admins and myself. You owe them all a public apology but don't worry I do have the names of all the flakes that will be posted tomorrow so they will know who you are.

It's one thing to change your mind and post or message me your are not coming but it's another thing to bascially shit on all of us and lead us to the conclusion you will be there so plans are not modified.

In 2012 I will introduce some new things to help with the flakes. Pre-Pay is on the way ;-)

Thank you again who showed up that said they would. I will post the list tomorrow once I dig it out of my box in the garage.
