1. SITUATION

It's 1979 and the Vietnam war hasn't ended. Your unit has been tasked with clearing out a small area a few hundred clicks west of
Hue. It is supposed to be crawling with VC, NVA and "other" hostiles. Soviet troops may be present.


2. MISSION

WHO: Team Battlesim and attachments.
WHAT: Search and Destroy - Asset Recovery - Hostage Rescue
WHEN: 20060812-20060813
WHERE: Near Hue, Vietnam (Vaughn, WA)

3. EXECUTION

a. Concept of Operation:

Infiltrate AO, setup up RON, locate hostiles, locate and rescue downed pilot, confirm Soviet presense in area, locate and rescue
"official", exfil area

1800 - Deploy to AO - Conduct area patrols
2000 - Setup RON near Firebase Danger

4. SERVICE SUPPORT

Limited re-supply in AO. Avoid unnessary contact with OPFOR. Comms discipline - limit radio contact to SALUTE report, emergency medevac or resupply.

Medevac/Resupply and Extract will be done via helicopter. OP Slicks will be distributed at operation time.

What are the restrictions for ages and guns?Could I use a M4 without any external stuff on it?

Given that it is a Vietnam Mil Sim, I would be interrested if there were VERY strict uniform and gear restrictions.

Like, AK's, m16, m4 with no moderm optics, xm177, m14s...

Is tiger stripe an valid camo pattern, or do you want to stick to the basics?

The realism of the game really make a big differance in how fun it is.

Imagine if "The Pentagon Papers" had not been leaked to the public in 1971 and if the
Paris Peace Accords had not lead to the US withdrawal from Vietnam. Instead, what if there
was a full scale invasion of Laos in 1971 and it lead to a serious roadblock in the Ho Chi
Mihn trail. With a major victory such as this, perhaps Australia and New Zealand would have
stayed in Vietnam a few years longer. . .

By 1975, the United States is able to stop up to 65% of the supplies along the Ho Chi Mihn
trail and serious gains in Vietnam are taking shape. Chinese and Russian involvement in the
conflict is inevitable and both countries begin sending "advisors" into the region. This move
furthers the resolve of the United States and with stronger World support it seems that "victory"
in Vietnam is within grasp. PAVN is increasingly forced to allow younger and younger soldiers to
fight the war as they are being drained of human resources. While Soviet and Chinese financial
support has been huge, it is clear that North Vietnam will fall unless they are reinforced.
In 1977, the Chinese send 300,000 soldiers and the Russians send 75,000. The war is on.

By the late 70's US "victory" is no where to be seen. Chinese and Russian support of NVA and
VC troops through out Vietnam lead to the "pitched battles" that Westmoreland felt were needed
to have a decisive victory in Vietnam. They weren't. The battle rages on.

It's 1979 - the FNGs are coming in with woodland camo and fancy new carbine rifles. Like the
Sgt.Maj said, "If the time comes that I need a rifle, they'll be plenty of them on the ground".

Your unit has been tasked with clearing out a small area a few hundred clicks west of Hue. It
is supposed to be crawling with VC, NVA and "other" hostiles. A full briefing will come a few
hours before operation time but the word is that 3 teams are going to be STABO'd in at BNT and
setup a RON. After that it will be a seek and destroy mission to wipe out all the remaining
hostiles in the area before moving back to exfil and RTB.

There are rumors that a high ranking South Vietnamese official might be being held by PAVN forces
in the area. Radio noise indicates that a Soviet "interview" team has been dispatched from the
North and are coming to the area. More then likely HQ will want to "speak" with these gentlemen.

Go draw some fresh supplies and meet up for a general briefing at 1500 12 AUG 1979 (2006).

Rico: Recondo School is going to be hardcore milsim. This (CWC) is just a chance for people going to Recondo to try out their gear in a friendly environment. There will be VC and NVA OPFOR and missions will be run against the OPFOR. I suspect a good 80% of the people coming will be in period and rest should be coming in woodland.
