Need Help Replacing Part 60 on KWA MKII 1911 (Impact Pin)

Postby Switchback » Tue Dec 04, 2012 10:17 pm

So in a tragic turn of events, I managed to eject part 60 (impact pin) out of my KWA 1911 MK II.

Image

My question is obviously, "How in the Good Lord's name do I get this little vixen of a pin back in?"

Image

Are there modifications/steps to be done to avoid such a problem in the future? I am worried about this happening in game...

So offer up, you GBB technicians.

I don't know how you got it out the back.

Pull of the slide, it goes under the crosspiece into the hole from the front.

So since I posted this, I've realized it did not come out the back like I thought; it doesn't just slide back in :)
I now know how to get the pin back in, and the entire pistol reassembled. The only problem I am having is that darn leaf spring in the backstrap of the pistol!
If anybody has a picture or video of the proper installment/arrangement of that leaf spring, I would really appreciate it. I found one, but I couldn't see what arrangement the trigger box was in. Those three parts (2 bronze colored, one black) are movable and are proving to be my only hiccup here.

Also, I'll be out in the vicinity of the Outlet on Saturday... I called and they said they charge ~$40 to reassemble the pistol, but do you think that they would charge to slide the leaf spring back in for me? I can either spend money on fixing it, or get a new magazine...

Buy the magazine and keep trying to assemble it yourself. You'll get it eventually. I have that gun and is the part you want a picture of easy to get to? I can take a photo and upload it if you want. Just have to tell me how to get to it without ending up in your same spot :)

I THINK
you could pull the safety out (releasing beavertail) and pull the pin out that holds the backstrap in (that has sling mount). I think. I have found some resources in the past few minutes and am going to take a whack at it, placing all points of the leaf spring atop the sear.

I didn't want to dive into it too deep. But here are the best i could get. Looks like the short silver tab goes to the right side of the gun if it's pointing away from you. The black metal part is either connected to the hammer or at least touches it.

I'm sure you got this link, but figured i might as well post it just in case.

So somehow, after hours of work, your images were what sparked my success. Pics for heathen non-believers.

Got it firing, and of course it shoots like a dream again.

I plan on posting a "comprehensive" "guide" to help replace the firing pin (part 60) and will likely be done with it this weekend. Hoping to help others with MK series KWA 1911's, as I hear this is a common problem if you fire without a magazine in.

Yay!

Thanks to all for the help. Youtube videos used:

Incredibly crisp HD.

Expect a guide on how to replace part 60, install the leaf spring, and teardown the frame (to the trigger box) within the week.

Now, it's been a few years since I broke down a 1911, but that leaf spring looks identical to how I remember the RS 1911 leaf spring being.

Did you consider looking up RS guides?
