G&G xtreme 45 Issues

Postby Blake » Thu Jul 12, 2012 12:49 pm

So I bought my G&G xtreme 45 off of my friend several months ago, at the time the gun worked great. I left it alone for at least 5 weeks until I went to an event with some friend, all of a sudden my trigger is loose. What makes the situation even more interesting, I can shoot it correctly without problems if it's turned upside down, but when right side up, the trigger gets stuck. I opened it up to see what the issue was and really couldn't locate any, it doesn't seem to be missing any parts, and I wasn't able to locate any pieces that had come undone or had fallen out of place. Any tips or suggestions? It's c02 powered btw. Let me know if you guys need pictures and I'll open it up again.

My friend barely had it that long, he even had the gun box to it. It's no more than 6 months old.

This happened to me with a Beretta 92. Those have a little "bar" that attaches to the trigger and actuates the sear. It won't work properly unless a small spring is pushing it upwards, into engagement. I have no idea how the Xtreme works, but it could be similar - a spring that pushes a trigger part upwards into engagement has broken.

Thanks for the reply, John. I didn't see any spring when I took it apart, is it connected to the slide and what size of a spring do you think I could use? Or is it even possible to improvise with a different spring? Essentially I just have to get some sort of device that will push it up, right? Obviously we're dealing with two different guns, so I'm not expecting you to give me step by step instructions, but maybe you could be more specific on how you fixed your Beretta?

If you look on the right side of the Beretta 92 you'll see this little bar just behind the trigger that goes into the grip. Under that grip panel, you can see the entire bar, which has a small spring on its inside surface. That can break, especially on cheaper models like the WE Sword Cutlass I fixed.

Depending on how the Xtreme is laid out, it may have a similar transfer bar. Or perhaps the engagement surfaces wore down, so the trigger isn't working the sear properly. There's a lot of different possibilities, but its hard to know without stripping it down.

Are you talking about that small spring that is on the trigger? it maybe coils around once or twice?

If it coils around the trigger it's probably a trigger return spring, which pushes the trigger forward after you trip the sear and drop the hammer.

This is the Beretta's transfer bar. And this is the spring inside it.

Yeah, definitely didn't see that spring when I opened it up. Granted, it may of dislodged and I didn't see it or it may completely work with a different spring that is much smaller. I am just going to open it up again and take some pictures and see what you guys think. I'll do that later tonight.
