ACU???

Postby TheGonz » Sat Jul 07, 2012 4:46 pm

Hello all I was just wondering, If ACU is not going to be used any more by the Army, Would the price of it 'used' go down even more? Or is it still going to stay about the same?
Lets be honest, when the K9 is used all you have is a, head start, not a chance to get away.

ACU is still used.

Now, if you're talking about the pattern UCP, yes. It will become cheap.

I got an extra small UCP top in ACU cut for ten bucks.

But that was before the announcement, and it was surplus.

My bet is that you'll see a lot more UCP sold surplus at really low prices, much like we all see woodland today.

Ok I think I need to go buy some. On a side note is thare any thing I should look out for? Ie, some type of rare problem, other than standing out like a polar bear in the woods.

Wikipedia wrote:Starching the uniform has been shown to cause discoloration. It enhances the IR signature, making the uniform inappropriately bright under night vision viewing.
Personnel have been instructed that the uniform must be washed with a mild detergent that does not contain "optical brighteners." Detergents with optical brighteners may cause discoloration of the uniform, which would nullify the purpose of the very specific camouflage design and result in possible unwanted detection of personnel using the uniforms in combat. Some detergents have phosphorescent properties which enhance an enemy's ability to see the soldier when viewed with night vision devices.

But that's basic uniform care for the ACU cut anyways it seems.

You don't need to lookout for anything with UCP, it'll easily stand out from everything O_o

Well I would not really use it out side, unless there is + 4 feet of snow, then maybe. Or if i just wallow in some mud for a bit. I in all actuality I would really use it for 'training'. Ie sims guns.

But then if i standout, the other players might think

' what the hell is he doing, is he crazy?'

and they would be right. But I dont think it would work out like that.

I'm using my set for a game next weekend, and whenever I feel like being on the team using UCP or something. But I have my MC for that.

Other groups use it, too. I've seen people with the full uniforms, or the newbies out there with their halfsies uniforms.

I also have a group of friends from school who use it at OAA when they go.

Honestly, I wouldnt bother spending the money on ACU, since, if your going to any of the local games, you'll stand out like crazy. In fact, you wont just not be camo'd, you'll be a blazing target to all around you. Better to just go with some BDU's. They're more comfy anyways.

You know everytime I've worn UCP I've raped the shit out of everyone because I plai like I knew they could see me.

If you run toward people shooting, they run the shazaam away like the little bitches they are.

Your camo don't mean shit.
I've got more kills wearing UCP than anything in the 12 years I've been playing.

Maybe the kids in the last 2 years are such little bitches...

I've seen UCP used to good effect as well, while it's certainly not as good as M81 or MARPAT, I think people just like to bash on it to ride on the bandwagon without actually having seen it used well, or used it themselves.

Well I am also going to buy another vest, OD or CT have not decided yet. But I don't think I would use it in the summer that much. I already have five sets of BDU's: 2 woodland tricolor, 1 arid Marpat, 1 woodland Marpat, and 1 vietnam-ish. So I am thinking the "ACU" would work great for winter. Seeing that whare I play at the snow and plant life would make more sence.

I've seen UCP used well in a couple of very specific situations, but personally I wouldn't want to use it. I'm very partial to MARPAT, and have been since it came out. When I was in the academy, we were trying to get MARPAT uniforms to replace our M81 Woodland, but never got enough funding.

Half of what airsofters do isn't about being effective.

If it was about being effective, you'd realize that the material uniforms are made out of and movement are what give people away most, combined with the oils in shown skin.

A person in full ACUs (in UCP camouflage pattern) with face paint that uses minimal jerky movements and knows how to place themselves will do a lot better than someone in woodland with their sleeves rolled up, no face paint, and their head covered in rails and tacticool things that are not camouflaged, and if they are camouflaged in a light tan color, are shiny and unnaturally shaped.
