Durability/Reliability of Chinese Goggles

Postby Orwell » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:24 pm

I'll keep it short. I'd like to buy some replica goggles, military-esque. Two questions:

1) Does anyone have personal experience with durability tests on ACMGear's goggles?
2) Does anyone have a favorite chinese goggle source?

Yes, I searched. Google and AP. Go forth and squabble. ;)

Don't trust your eyes to the Chinese. If you want some "military style" goggles, get the real thing off eBay. Or just use shooting glasses so you don't fog like crazy.

I currently have some excellent shooting glasses. Is your first suggestion based on experience with chinese goggles or personal knowledge of the manufacturing process, or general caution?

+1 for sure...

Uh..yeah, guy...this shouldn't even be a topic. Think about it....for protecting your body, wouldn't you want what you know will work as intended?

Keep the Chinese stuff for the replica junk that's put on your AEG...not what's put on your face or body.

Trust in the standards of authentic brand goggles designed specifically to protect. :)

Find a surplus store and pick up some ESS goggles.

That's what this thread is about, sir. I'm wondering if anyone has bought/tested any good chinese goggles. Just because it's from overseas doesn't mean it's bad- it means that there's an unknown. "...what you know will work as intended..." Precisely. Do we know any good chinese goggles? The only reason we know the stuff our military uses is good is because we have guys who've used that gear and given the thumbs-up.

I appreciate the suggestions to go to surplus stores/EBay for issued or surplus gear, but they do not answer either of my two original questions. I know there are good sources for American gear. I'm curious about our overseas friends.

Thanks.

If no one in the forum has any experience with the Overseas stuff then they might not be able to answer either of your questions, so a solution would be maybe for you to get some goggles from Overseas and test them out yourself.

Odds are, anything you buy over here came from China anyway. They're not retarded; they understand what ANSI rated eyewear is. Your standard, plastic-frame shooting glasses are coming from China and I can't find anything about where ESS goggles are manufactured, but I wouldn't put my money on them being produced here. If you're curious about the durability of your eyepro... shoot it.
