G-cod vs blackhawk serpa

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

I like the Safariland over the SERPA because it (IMHO) retains the weapon better. The suede lining also protects the gun finish better and makes it difficult for anyone other than you to remove the gun from the holster. Its easy to draw it up and out, but if your trying to pull it out from the side, its much more difficult. Not that big of a deal in airsoft, but handy feature none-the-less. I also think the Safariland drop leg platform stays in place better than the Blackhawk one. The Safariland holsters are a bit tighter than SERPAs which can be a drawback as they can cause the slide to move when your holstering your gun, but of the 3 that I have, it hasn't been an issue.

Also, FWIW, Safariland makes a holster for all the pistols you mentioned, including the Mk23.

Before you decide to go down either rode, test drive both holsters if possible. The action for releasing the Safariland is much different than the SERPA and can throw people off under stress.

Safariland holsters are a bit bulky for my preference and I've stuck away from them because I refuse to use drop-legs or mount my pistol on my belt, but there's NOWHERE on my gear that I can't somehow efficiently and comfortably attach my SERPA for my 1911.

No matter what you get, though, don't get a soft holster. They move too much, they can't be drawn from nearly as quickly as a SERPA or other locking holster, and they usually close with a buckle or snap, which is the last thing I want to fumble with when trying to draw or return my pistol.

Like what Order_66 said:

I just saw this yesterday. Not sure how many of us roll around in the dirt/snow/mud etc, but good to know.
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

There have been a few discussions on real steel forums about the locking mechanism failing and people not being able to draw thier side arm when needed. I guess it is prone to becoming clogged with dirt/mud, sand and snow.
Also some people stated that they didn't like using thier trigger finger for the lock release because under high stress a ND could occur.
