Where: DJ's Nut Farm (Howell Prairie, OR)
When: February 12th, 0930 - February 13th, 1700
What: CAG's monthly training
CAG hosts monthly training events. These are open to anyone interested in training. We always enjoy training with other teams, and members of other teams are always welcome. Training is the cornerstone of any military unit or any team. If you're interested in joining CAG, make an account on our website (http://www.cascadianairsoft.com) and make an introduction post in our introduction thread.

Commander's Intent:
The C.A.G.'s February training will cover IPSC style training on Saturday, beginning with individual weapon handling (sighting in weapons, realization of actual airsoft ranges) and then moving to gear placement, magazine reloading, firing positions and individual movement techniques. When all of the skills are proficient to a basic level we will have an IPSC-style course that has people running, moving between cover, reloading quickly and in various positions while shooting various targets and engaging in accurate, suppressive fire. The goal of Saturday is to get each individual CAG soldier to a level of proficiency in the basics of combat to more effectively fight within a fire team.

Sunday we will cover Battle Drill 1-Alpha (Squad Attack) in great detail, helping leadership (fire team leaders and squad leaders) practice moving squads and maneuver elements to quickly react to an enemy action and maneuver on them (flank), hold a defensive position or withdraw from a combat situation that is not favorable (live to fight another day). The goal of Sunday is to help people get out of the static form of fighting in US Infantry doctrine and teams and get used to adapting to the terrain, situation and enemy in any given environment, becoming capable of quickly fixing (fixing the enemy in place means laying down sufficient suppressive fire so that they are spending more time ducking and hiding in fear than looking at where we're moving or moving to a better position to kill us) maneuvering and then destroying the enemy.

We'll be having this at DJ's farm. We will be preparing and eating a goat for dinner Saturday night. $5 per person to have an all you can eat goat buffet!

ITINERARY:

Saturday, February 12th, 2011
0830 - Show up, kit up
0900 - Quick class on zeroing weapons
0930 - Zero weapons using paper zero targets
1015 - Demonstration of airsoft weapon ranges / limitations
1030 - Gear types and placement for effective outdoor play
1045 - Cover, firing positions, Bounding, "Making guns talk"
    1115 - IMT lanes
    1200 - Quick Lunch
*During Lunch cadre will set up IPSC style lanes for individuals, buddy teams and fire teams*
1230 - Shooting lanes round robin (3 separate lanes. Fire teams move between lanes as a unit)
*Attendants will be broken down into three groups*
*Groups practice each lane in 1 hour increments*
    Block 1: 1230-1330
    Block 2: 1330-1430
    Block 3: 1430-1530
1530 - End of Training Day.
*After training, 1/4 will host a skirmish until everyone's ready to call it a day. Scouts, HQ and Squad Leaders will convene for a whiteboard class in the shed. Required for Squad Leaders and above. Optional for everyone else. Recommended for Team Leaders. Open to all.
After the duty day is done, we'll gather around the campfire and shoot the shit. If you're 21 or older, bring alcohol if you'd like. No driving once you've had any alcohol. We'll have a Saudi friend come out and give us an informal class on how to take a perfectly healthy and happy goat and turn it into a delicious meal for 40 people. $5 gets you a cut of the meat! I highly suggest you bring your own form of chair as we run out when there are 40 people around a campfire or two.

I'll try to go on Saturday, maybe with some buds. Is this an AEG only training?

Yes, This is like a Light infantry Fire team based training, with the following moving up too Squad level.

Bolt actions do not serve much purpose in CAG in general.

Just checking. What about the use of grenades and related devices? And what does the gear part of the training entail?

As you can see by the itinerary, we're not putting too much time into it. We're just recovering what we covered at our Christmas Party as far as what types of gear is out there, show some examples, then some talk on pouch placement.

Grenades and other items will be at the Training.

As per bolt action platforms, in airsoft, CAG hasn't really adopted them for anything beyond riflemen. If you have a bolt and you run with a squad, you can still learn from the training, though you'll be in more of a DMR role. Vidar is a very good example of someone able to use a bolt action rifle like a WWII Infantryman.

Is that the guy who uses the KAR-98? Alright, that's all my annoying questions... for now.

Very good, I'm trying to arrange access to Warpaint so we can do a walk through on Saturday afternoon before LOW too.

Awesome. I have been there a few times but it would be great to get a lay of the land. I will bring all of my grenadier loadout to the training as well.
