How many mags?

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

I run 7+1 for my primary, 1+1 for my secondary, and then two lowcaps for those "ooohh shit" moments in fast mags.

Really depends on your play style, if you shoot semi, 5+1 should be plenty. But take Ivan's advice, run what you've got, if you run out too quickly, add one more, repeat process until you have enough and then one more.

I run 12 real caps which really isn't much considering that's only around 360 rnds or 3 midcaps. Though good trigger discipline and only shooting at what you can hit, they seem to last me a good while.

I carry 6 +1 mids for my primary and 2 + 1 for my pistol. I also have a small back pack, which is light enough to carry or I can dump it at spawn or a rally point, with with 3 more mids and bb's and speed loaders.

I use standard mags 7+1 for DMR and 1 high cap. When I'm assualting, I take the scope off and use some additional midcaps.

10+1 midcaps for my primary; one in the gun of my secondary. If you're going to reload your secondary, you might as well reload your primary instead.

Ivan had it best. Use what you feel you need and add more mags until you stop running out.

If you're going for US Infantry thematic, then 7 mags or 210 rounds.

If you're going for SOF thematic, then I'd say 12 is the magic number if you're going into a firefight heavy.

I use personally 11 midcaps and 1 hicap for my M4.

Keep adding mags on your person until you fall over and can't get up...

... then, remove one mag.

At the start I used to run with 8 high caps (yup)

Now that I've been playing for awhile I either play for 4-5 mid caps (If I'm using my AK) and 1-2 high caps (if I'm using my M4) trying to use high caps less since I like to not make noise when sneaking (starting to hate winding it up)

For my RPK since I only have 1 drum mag that's all I use, but I plan to use 2.

This. You can never have too much ammo.

Money is a bit tight for me right now... I know that at Oregon Airsoft I only use 1 98 rd. mag for a 5 min game, and being CQC I shoot more than I honestly need to be. If it is a longer game I may swap out for another mag... I would assume my gun isn't too accurate at long ranges so getting more rounds out will probably be a good idea. And in my M9 I just use 1 25 rd. mag every once in a while. I feel like I'm going to be fine on ammo for my first few games if I just be smart with it.

Secret is to get fat like me that way you can carry ten PMAGS on your PC. The lighter PMAGS make a big difference and I hate packing things to spawn.

Wow! What a personal question.. Just kidding. But this explains why you get so many different answers. Well, most people have more than 1 mag for their sidearm, but I just have one since for me it's more look and coolness than actual practical use. I go for the Serpa in times of comedy and so I don’t hurt people when clearing structures.
However, the primary.. With my KWA M4, sometimes I just spray. I have a total of 8 midcaps (5 MAG 190 rnd ea. and 3 Real Sword), and 2 Hi-Caps, like Jester said for "oh shit moments." One nice thing I found about hicaps is you can carry a hicap and a speedloader in your gear, then use that amo to refill all your other mags during boring moments. You can also get a fatty speedloader for this purpose, but they don’t double as windy rattlesnake mags when you really need them.
But like I said, that's with my M4 (20+ rps ROF). I think of my Type 97 bullpup as more of a DMR, basically using semi only. I therefore take out only two or three midcaps for that, and then I can leave the MOLLE vest and pouches behind. Some people may think this is a less cool look, but hey, it reduces bulk, increases functionality for me and makes it easier to swing around that funky Chinese gun with the mag in the back.
Anyways, I don’t see on your Profile what kind of gun you carry, but with an M4 mag compatible weapon I would highly recommend some MAG brand midcaps. They’re cheap because you can get them by the box, metal or plastic.
Wow that was a rant. But suit yourself, like others said, go to events and see what happens.

I carry 4-6 mags for normal games, but for big OPs, I carry 15 mags for my M4, 2 for my M24, and 3 for my 1911.
