How many mags?

Postby Icepick » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:15 pm

How many mags should I have for my sidearm and my primary? I like to use semi-auto, but get a few more rounds out... I currently have 5 KA mids for my G36 (98 rds.), and 2 25 rd. mags for my M9PTP.

You're pretty much good. As long as you have a rig to carry them in that includes a dump pouch, you'll be fine.

I carry 5 mids (one in the gun, 4 in pouches) and three pistol mags (one in the gun and two in pouches).

I have seven 100rd midcaps and 2 highcaps (i don't load the highcaps. i just want a full rig) and I shoot on full-auto a decent amount, and I do just fine. So with 5 mids and shooting on semi, you should be great.

It depends on what your shooting style is. If you like to hose down the opfor and the surrounding scenery = lots of mags. A discerning sniper may get by nicely with just 2 @ 10 rnds ea.. If I do not have a target, I do not shoot. I get by with 4 mid caps for the main (mp7) and 2 for the pistol. figure what your fire discipline is and go from there.

I use 2 mags for my m9 ptp. For indoor i use 4 mags total for my m4, all mid cap. For outdoors around 6 all mid cap. I never really need that many but it's nice to know you wont run out of ammo.

DJ is right. Your loadout should completely depend on your playing style. Carry as much as you think you need, and then figure it out from there. But don't carry more than you think you need. Unless you're a gearwhore ;)

Most "Events" i attend are my teams monthly training, i pack 10 mags, no less. We are out on field for a few hours, and having so many mags and only a small attacking force i do not go through so many.

For Games Like LOW i use the same, and spend any spare time i can to reload them.

I carry 6+1 in the gun for my primary (more if I'm running my defender/M16) and 1+1 for my sidearm.

I'm usually heavy on the trigger so I reload when I head back to respawn.

The amount you have is in the butter zone of having enough to sustain you for a while (even longer if you don't go nuts on the trigger like me ;)

Depends, I can reload rather fast due to my ability to have 6 speed loaders. During the summer I try and minimize the weight of my loadout during the Summer (seeing as I have 10 full metal middies that hold 150 rounds each) with ~6-8 mags, During this time of year, 8-10. I recommend ~8, it helps quite a bit in tight situations.

4 midcaps. I can carry more, i just don't need to. 69 rounds per mag is a lot of ammo to me.

6 primary mags, +1 in the gun, and +1 'oh $#!t' mag. 2 for my pistol right now, though I might pick up another one.

Go out, play a game. If you keep running out of ammo buy more mags until there problem no longer occurs.
