+1, and another bonus is that it looks like it uses m16/m4 mags.

It does, as does it's real-steel counterpart.

That M82 is at a price I'm thinking of scenarios that could work with it.

Still an AEG, therefore subject to the 400 FPS limit for AEGs imposed at most games hosted by folks who participate in the AP forums. Nothing keeping a game host from using a different set of rules, but that seems to be the standard.

EDIT: Silly Wombat forgot the M82 is semi-auto in real life and not bolt-action. Still doesn't make any sense as a "sniper rifle" in a game largely devoid of vehicles and bunkers, if you're going for realism.

It seems that people have forgotten the overall purpose of the Barrett M82 - it is, as Wombat said, an anti-material weapon. It was designed to be able to punch through heavy armor and vehicles, and disable/destroy machinery. There's a reason that such hotness as the 556 DMR is created - to take out infantry.

See, this is what they made the Chey Tac M200 for. Those long-distance shots. The thing with the M82 is it has a lot of powder pushing a large hunk of metal a long ways, which means it carries a lot of kinetic energy (I could tell you how much, to what range, but I already have enough physics homework). In cases other than on "hard" targets, its rather wasteful, especially with its weight.
