My heart bleeds for all the people who won't be able to buy these cheap pieces of Chinese junk.
Seriously, though: Maslow's hierarchy of needs. If you're so financially destitute that you're going to phony pony when you can no longer buy your $100 garbage guns, maybe you need to re-evaluate your interest and investment in the hobby. Airsoft is a niche market and, like any such hobby, participation is usually prohibitively expensive. I understand that correlation does not equal causation, and this is based strictly on my own anecdotal evidence, but it seems like with the influx of unreliable, poor-quality Chinese guns came an influx of unreliable, poor-quality players.
Higher prices act as filter to separate those who are genuinely interested in becoming airsofters from the irresponsible denigrates. It's far from perfect, and it's far from fair, but it does work.
