I actually like it, I like the scar anyway so for me it just looks like a more practical scar. Id buy it.

In the case of the FAMAS, it's lack of utility IS its lack of utility. The fact that it's ugly is secondary.

With the M4 style stock, it appears shouldering it will put the barrel online or below the butt-stock. That could help with burst control...so, that could be a side benefit.

Also, didn't the SCAR get booted because the poly-lower was fracturing in cold weather (ie snow/ice) under sustained use?

That is correct, while in Afghanistan they were having a lot of problems with that problem. SOF units opted against them. Afghanistan can get very very cold, contrary to common beliefs.
My sword runs at 450 FPS, try to out run that! 35+ Sword/Knife Kills and counting.
