I just want to thank everyone who braved the heat and came out. I was glad to see everyone having a good time.

Thanks to Matt and tool for setting this up. Thanks to all APST members for their help. Especially Vaugn, Tom, Ray, Mitch, Tim, Mike and Ryan.

Thanks to Rick for the free BBQ.

A big thanks to Sean for driving around all day and picking up injured people on the field.

A very Big Thanks to Mathew/Redd for volunteering to help out and be the field medic. You did a great job of treating the dehydrated, injured and heat casualties. (we need to work on getting you a full tauma kit)

Finally, I cannot stress to people how important hydration is at any airsoft. Especially when the weather is so hot. Allways bring water!

What a great day! Didn't play a lick of airsoft, but had a blast admining, and hob-knobbing at the swap meet.

We did manage to get rid of some stuff we didn't need...and replaced it with MORE stuff we DO need...I think the Explorer was fuller when we left than when we arrived!

Everyone I talked to had a good time! I think overall the event is something most would like to see continue on a regular basis. I know it gets my vote!

I had a good time with everyone. I would like to see the negotiations continue to try and lower the cost of this event. I would also enhance the level of game play too!!! On the other hand, if the game play was there, the cost would not have to change. Other then that I had a good time.

I had fun, despite the heat. The swapmeat was a success, and the campout was a success.

I had a great time during the first game. Overall, I'd love to see more gameplay hours vs. downtime hours. I had a good time though, and a squadmate won an MP5, so no complaints there!

The heat was a significant challenge to overcome.

Thanks to all those involved in setting this thing up and making it a success. :D

A special thanks to everyone who took off early and left a lot of good raffle prizes to other folks. ;)

i think the heat really showed the importance of starting on time this time of year.

LIKED:
Paying at the gate - I feel cheated when others try to sneak into games without paying; the best idea yet for on-site payment
Casual atmosphere - play if you want, hang out and barter if you want
A dedicated roving "medic" - great idea and props to the gentleman walking all over the course looking for overheated victims. That came in handy for 4 people at least.
Porta-potties - Did you have to bribe the field owners to have more than one john on-site?
Good people - for the most part anyways

Dislikes
Heat - glad I came prepared
Didn't win a gun - oh well, neither did 150+ other people
The guy who didn't safety-kill me - At first I wasn't too happy and told him I'd be back with an admin. 10 min. later after respawning (at which time I cooled down and didn't care anymore) I go back to the same area and there he is standing there against a tree with a red death-rag on his head.
I ask, "Are you dead?"
He says "Yes."
Me - "Why don't you go respawn?"
Him - "You said you were coming back with an admin..." Boy did I feel like a jerk...props to you m8 whoever you were for doing the honroable thing and actually waiting. Next beer's on me

Actually, we rented the additional porta-potties.
Could you imagine that single "splat action" toilet on a 95 degree day?

Thanks everybody for coming out and making this event a success. I think so far this is our most well attended swap meet style game we've had, I'd like to do it again next year. For those who wanted more games, unfortunately the weather dealt us a shitty hand this weekend. We had to pull 7 folks out of the game for heat exhaustion so we decided to hold off on any new games until later. When later rolled around, everybody got impatient and went home. For those who missed camping, you missed some good times :)

Those of you who remember our indoor swap meet will remember how hot it was then, I guess we're cursed. It's funny how no matter how many times you yell at people, we still had people without water.

Props to tool and Kevin for pushing this idea through. Also would like to thank Rick for BBQing for everyone.

How much fun was that?

Postby book42 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:37 am

Overall, it was a very good day. I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again, I ask and require two things when I go out "airsofting": one- have fun, two- get in one good kill. Saturday I got both. There seemed, from my point of view, to be very little, if none at all, cheating. Everyone seemed to be calling their hits, and everyone (despite the oppressive heat) seemed to be having a good time.

Furthermore, who says an old dog (me) can't learn new tricks, or rather, the same old tricks reinforced through damn-fine tactics. I have to humbly congratulate an A.P.S.T. team member (at least, I'm pretty sure he was A.P.S.T.) for some outstanding stalking and sneaking and tactics. When we hunted for you three in the orchard, our numbers superior, at the least, double; you melted back into the humid shadows and disappeared. When contact appeared on our 12:00, no one believed you might still be behind us, myself included. Wiped and exhausted by the heat, already thinking about a tall, frosty glass of microbrew, I forgot a valuable lesson in airsoft; always cover your 6:00. No. I really mean it. ALWAYS COVER YOUR 6:00! When I heard you, it was too late. When you tapped me on the shoulder and "knife-killed" me, I was already yelling hit. Then you effectively, efficiently, single-handedly, and I might ad, fairly, wiped out six or seven of us. Congratu-freakin'-lations! Well done, my friend. You took all of us by surprise. :snap:

It was a rough game (because I didn't know the field), and a rough day (made even rougher by the heat). Hell, I couldn't even use my brand new SOCOM GEAR A.E.G. because it was shooting excessively hot! Nevertheless, I enjoyed every second, and had fun playing with some fine young, and old, fellows.

Hope to see all of you again, soon.

Best regards,
