The Camp Basilone project

I have been working on and off on this camp for about 2 years now. As money and time permits....... My goal is to have a top notch Vietnam era fire support base when I'm done (minus the 105's of course). I'll have several mortar pits dug though with tubes in place. I've used Osprey publishing books to guide me through the process of what was done back then.

Right now I'm working on finishing the watch tower that guards the main gate. We sunk four six by six treated posts into the ground roughly 3 feet. Once completed the tower dimensions will be 10x10x24', and will have a commanding view over the southern perimeter of the camp.

Future projects include:

A shower
A head
GP medium tent platform
Finish the second line of wire fence
A TOC
Improve 3 bunkers and add a fourth
A helo pad
A mortar pit, possibly two
A main road to camp (right now its a 4x4 trail)

Some of the snags I have encountered is that unlike Vietnam, the foothills to the northern Rockies are..........ROCKY. In many places inside the perimeter it is impossible to dig down. There fore my plan is to back fill with dirt once I get a good road up to the camp that will facilitate a dump truck. I will build my emplacements and back fill around them.

One thing I love about the Camp is that it has a wonderful view of the Columbia river and valley below. As well as a nice view of "Charlie" mountain to the south.

Anyhow I just wanted to share this project with you all and to fish for some feedback from other Nam enthusiasts.

Looking good, several improvements from last year. I second that view, it's incredible!

That looks like quite the project! Best of luck! Might I suggest prioritizing the head over the shower? XD
I'm a "fair weather" airsofter. I only play in the pouring rain, freezing cold, or broiling heat.

Yes, but the DNR put up "no trespassing" signs everywhere. I haven't played up there for years.
