Why are people hatin' on hicaps?

Postby Mike a.k.a. Pocahontas » Wed May 05, 2010 4:15 pm

Of the upcoming events for this month, a majority of them have magazine restrictions that prohibit the use of hicap mags. What the hell is going on? Why are hicaps suddenly manifestations of Lucifer in the holy airsoft community?

They always have been. (well atleast since I joined AP) It started with games not letting players use box mags, unless it was an actual saw. Now people are finally getting around to not having hi-caps at more games.

High Caps Pros:
-300rds per mag

High Cap Cons:
-Winding
-Rattling when running
-Reinforces the spray and pray mentality
-Mechanism becomes fouled and broken
-30 rounds won't feed into gun

Midcap Pros:
-No rattling when running
-no winding
-encourages movement and tactics to defeat your enemy, not just amount of rounds down range
-No mechanism to become fouled and broken

Midcap Cons:
-not as many rounds per mag (only an issue if you are used to highcaps)
-don't feed last 4-5 rounds

In the recent games i've played in, it hasnt really mattered. Are they getting less and less popular about now, or has it just always been like this and i'm ignorant?

I've only seen it very recently and I like it. Make somebody carry around a heavy gun if they want to shoot so much.
Ultimately, we're all adults running around with toy guns. Let's keep it in perspective.

well shit, if that's the issue i'll strap some dumbbell weights to the side of my KWA. Either way, i have not and never will begin to 'spray and pray'. Not as long as ammo costs money.

The term "hi-cap WHORE" has existed for the entire 9 years that I've played Airsoft.

I don't assume that every game will disallow hi-caps forever. It's just that right now it's kind of a trend. Everybody's doing it! If enough people phony pony about wanting to use hi-caps I'm sure some opportunist will advertise "Hi-cap friendly" games - and I won't go to them. $$$ talks

LOL, Buy my mid caps and you wont have to worry about being a Hi Cap whore..
I know that it is a rush to play airsoft and when your pinned down and you run out off ammo, adding the concept of reloading in the middle of a fire fight really get's the blood pumping.
Did I hear someone say Brothers GRIM?

If you don't spray and pray buying mid caps should be no problem.

I for one refuse to buy anything more than a midcap.

This is why research before purchasing things is good.

Although, I'm sure there have been suggestions or "approvals" thrown out by this community about sub machine-gun replicas without mention of the arrival of games featuring tiered fps limits based on calibers of the real steel counterparts.

Magazine restrictions on the other hand are very easy to find out about, and it is commonly mentioned only to buy 1 or 2 hicaps if you are short on money, and not to stock up on them.
