Regardless of how much something costs or who owns what, teams and people running events are going to look for the lowest price. Period. It's nothing personal, we just want to pass along the savings to everyone else. Why deal with a middleman if we don't have to? I think this is the same point Brandon is trying to make. According to management of the field, nobody had to go through T1T at all, despite what you guys say here on AP.
I've never charged anybody for use of a field I don't own. If you are a trustworthy person, I'll give you all of my field contacts and you can host as many events as you want. I don't care. I hope your event is a success so I can go enjoy it. The field doesn't make the event a success, good planning & execution make a successful event. So many people like to hoard ideas and connections and I don't honestly understand why. Is it a trust issue?
If your event sucks and has a poor turnout, chances are the owner of the establishment will probably start ignoring your phone calls and start working with people who put on quality events. It's survival of the fittest, not survival of the first. If you put on quality events, leave a playfield cleaned up and nice when you are done, follow all established rules, then you have nothing to worry about - right?
Competition is a good thing, it keeps us on our toes.
