How Is It Run Here?

Ok, as many know I'm new to the Pacific NW area, and am new to this airsoft realm...

I only do WWII airsoft and want to ask one question, but it's vital and important!

How is it run here? Do ya'll go 100% with your kit, or are still building them to correct and accurate statute. Or is it more of a 1975's era hbt's with a m14 and you look 'as close' as you can get to the correct era?

I don't wanna sound like a jerk or anything (escpecially because I'm new here) but I hope it's not the latter. We are representing our fore fathers and doing things right for the sake of them is well worth it! (you'll see that same phrase on any WWII airsoft forum I'm a part of) I feel doing it right in the name of the soldiers who have given their lives for all of their homelands is worth that extra buck to get the right gear.

So how's it run in the Pacific NW?

All I know anything about is Recondo and they require period correct gear for that, I doubt The long winter ect. would be any different.

Hit up Hellmut at Tacoma Tactical, he owns Battlesim, or at least that is my understanding.

From what I read on their forums when I was going to go Jump to Destiny with Chef was that you needed pretty damn specific gear. I could not go because I could not afford the proper kit at the time and I missed out on one hell of an experience.

There is a growing sub group in this community that is trying very hard to make the reinactments happen while still providing a "winnable" game for both sides. I do not envy those who are attempting this as it is way harder than setting up a regular airsoft game or reinactment. Kudos to those who actually pull it off. I couldn't.

TexanKraut - What you're saying is nothing new here. There are several of us who want to get reenactment airsoft off the ground here. I don't need to go into the rehashed details, just read a few posts and you'll get the idea.

The few WW2 events that do happen here are pretty damn good, such as Jump To Destiny and Long Winter. However, even these events are struggling at the moment due to many player's economic situations. These two events were a combination of airsoft and blankfire, so a large portion of the participants are traditional reenactors and thus have very accurate impressions.

Its the age-old argument that players need events to urge them to buy the gear, but to host an event there needs to be players with the gear. Classic "Chicken or the Egg" syndrome. To get the airsoft ball rolling there needs to be some loose impression requirements to start, because you will NOT get someone to drop $300-500 on an impression in the offchance there is an event. If that means 70's HBTs and M14s for US and Swedish wool and AK for German, well... its a start. Need to plant a seed and let the players grow it because they sure as hell are not going to buy a full grown tree!

However, there needs to be at least some people who are fully kitted out to get it up and running. Alex is one, I can do quite a few British impressions in a heartbeat (I also blankfire reenact). Alex has some ideas for events, its up to people who want to do it to actually do it. When he does, come on down!

Manicotti Events is working on a series of WWII Events that will start this summer. We'll be holding a few gun conversion workshops between now and the start of "The Season Of The Wolf", and encouraging people to purchase the bare minimum equipment to do WWII airsoft.
