on prob with his design you have to pull out the pin to the side, so if u wanted it to have a trip wire that woudnt work better would be a spring loaded on closing at top, so hinge falls down open, so wire there

I would rethink your last statement after looking at the link listed below.

Look at the pictures that are included with the description on how to build it.
There is an eye bolt set into one of the corners to work as a pulley so you can turn the corner and have a trip wire that is 90 degrees from the device.
I think before you pass judgement on someone's design you should build it and test it and then write a review on it.

I think the guy that made this has thought of the way to set it up and like I said if you look at the pictures you can see the set up Ideas.

Great idea on using shelving brackets for the legs that is a great addition on how to save a buck.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the eyebolt, SilentStalker.

Pre-rig a length of wire or string with a stake on the end and some means of safteying on the claymore so it won't go off when you set it up, then stick it in the ground facing a path, stake the other side, remove the safety and find some cover, instant ambush! The eyebolt will pull the pin out no matter which direction the tension is coming from, so you don't have to worry about setting it up in a precise manner!

oh, i see my mistake, i was thinking of one where the hinge and pin were on the end so when it was pulled the person would have already been past it, rendering it usless nvm my bad

Very neat. Although i dont like the pin because as someone said before you cant have a trip wire and it might open up on your hand.

Yeah, except the fix is easy peasy. Rather than using the leftover latch that they did, use something like this:

Yes, I know, the little catch portion of that assembly isn't going to fit on the front panel in the proper direction. Substitute an eyebolt.

Stick an eyebolt next to it to change the direction of pull from the string/wire, and problem solved.

Other than that, great idea. I might have to build a couple...maybe a little more "finished" than the original author's.

Sounds like a fun project, as soon as I move my shop from my basement to my garage, I will have to build a few myself. Lord knows these babies have saved my life a few times in Call of Duty.
