Grid 18 Vehicle Rules wrote:Vehicle General Rules1. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE, IF YOU BRING IT, YOU ASSUME THE RISKS.
2. Top speed is 10 mph, do not drive faster
3. Do not drive in heavy underbrush, stick to roads and pathways
4. Players must remain 10 feet away from moving vehicles, no mad grenade rushes
5. ALL vehicles must be cleared by the admin before they can be used in the game
6. Armored vehicles are impervious to BBs, DO NOT light them up because you cannot kill them. (armor is considered any wood or metal plating on the vehicle - window glass does not count, has to look like actual armor)
7. You CAN kill drivers or occupants of non-armored vehicles, trucks, jeeps, etc
8. You CANNOT capture or hi-jack a vehicle, only pre-designated drivers can operate them.
Vehicle Hit Rules1. Vehicles must be hit by a foam projectile fired from an M203 or other launcher device (spring or gas operated) to be disabled.
2. 1 hit = disabled vehicle. 2 hits = everyone inside is dead.
3. Vehicles either use emergency flashers or a red flag to signify "disabled"
4. Remain stationary for 5 minutes after being hit, then drive back to your CP (or as close as you can get) to respawn
5. Listen to players when they tell you the vehicle is hit, take their word for it. You may not see it. If you see the vehicle get hit, let them know they are down.
Wombat Six wrote:My concerns with the vehicles center around how to ensure that the opposing force has the weaponry to ensure that they have the ability to "kill" the vehicle. I know that most events that have been in the local area (whether or not they were Airsoft Pacific games) use nerf footballs or grenades as "kills", but they choose to let the participants supply these assets. If, for some reason, the individual(s) bringing the M203 and the nerf footballs fail(s) to show, suddenly that force doesn't have the AT weapons and spends its day trying to take out the vehicle with small arms fire, which is not always terribly effective.
I know that Bergret uses an self-developed IR-based system that basically looks like an AT-4 to "kill" vehicles by lighting up a target on the vehicle for a specificed duration (1 or 2 seconds) which causes a light to appear in the driver's visual range and a smoke generating device to go off, simulating a "hit". The devices are owned by the organization and loaned out to vehicles participating in the event.
My questions are thus: is there interest in such a system locally? I'm willing to sink some R&D into figuring out the hardware if folks are interested in using it.
