The base camps are extrtemly high value and should be sieged for most of the day. Wont it bother people to see dead guys walking through their offensive forces right into the very place they are trying to take? Only to then turn around and start shooting at them? I am sure you will hear "He just walked in and turned around and shot us!!! We didn't shoot him because we thought he was dead!?" Or on the other side "Those guys are spawn camping!!!Kick them out like the rules say you will!!"
Or was this increased difficulty on purpose? I can be down with that, don't mind an uphill battle, but I would suggest not doing it in a big game with lots of new guys....
I will do my best to work within this set up and not phony pony about it but what do the players think?
I remember going to a skirm that had the same style respawn and it failed miserably with most players complaining about it and leaving early. Just a heads up, like I say I will do my best not to let it effect the attitude of my team or the gameplay
At the previous Fashion Wars, Kabila assaulted Bemba's base, and we would have completely taken their base if it wasn't for the fact that they instantly respawned, and half of their guys were saying "STOP SHOOTING ME" while the other half were using them as cover to return fire, or standing around until we had our backs to them and they opened up.
There was never a reason to take over a base. The base served as a collection point for the items you collected (which cannot be reclaimed). It served as a respawn point or rally point for the warlord to give orders to troops. The only value it had was the flag that was placed OUTSIDE the base. It's a starting area based on a draft and from there personal choice. Each base has it disadvantages and advantages.
It could serve as object to provide cover to get to the sectors to put in your flags but if anyone looks at the map, you'll see I purposely kept the markers outside of the bases to help reduce 400fps firefights at such close range. I am thinking of your safety while minimizing the negative impact it may have on gameplay I see fit.
This is why in the briefing I spoke about making sure to not blind fire and not aim at heads while in the tighter areas such as the bases aka structures. This is why grenade rules were put into effect as well not to mention to keep the campers from camping out all day in one spot.
While many of you may disagree please keep in mind I am thinking of you. I know injuries can still happen. I know how we all love to share our opinions here, so I always make sure I have a reason for everything (you agreeing is still another issue). However I try again to come up with the best scenario I see fit.
This is a numbers game. If I could have the same amount of players on every team I could reset the value of the bases in my mind. I try to keep this less complex because I always know the sides will usually never be equal. I try to bring less issues to the table when i do these games.
I also figure if I use a base as a respawn, then we have less issues of players chillin in "out in the open" dead pools while there is still fire fights going on. At least this serves as a shield.
