I had an inkling of APST going sideways when I saw that they were a "separate" element, and especially after the "formal complaint". APST never linked up with us in any formal fashion, so anything they did was entirely their own idea.

G&G's switch was as much a surprise to me as it was to the OPFOR. I didn't have time to call Matt up begging to have him take it easy on me. Anybody who thinks otherwise should follow me around at an event sometime.

Anybody who think the game was "written so a certain team would win"...yeah, I don't think Matt plays that way. And I wouldn't want him to. I would have been just as happy with a crushing defeat from a superior foe as my "nick of time" win. This game was a steal at $15, for the time spent playing, camping, and the prizes that were given away.

Anybody who spent time talking with their CO on the radios and working the plan got significantly more done than the folks who decided to just turn this into a giant skirmishers game.

Agreed. It was well written and set up, even though we messed up the start. As for APST switching, as annoying as it was at the time, it actually became kind of fun once we got over our initial anger.

you would think so, if they werent wearing the same thing i was wearing as well as the 112 other players on my same team...understand how fustrateing it is when we are being fired upon people that we have no idea why, when we were clearly wearing the same crap....and i think the national guard team was doing good when they took over our main camp...made us relocate and practicly shit bricks, i was still haveing loads of fun then...if it ended right there and then i would not be typeing anything but how awesome it was...about 50 of those 112 probably dident know whether to start shooting their team mates just because they were wearing od just like the guys that betrayed them...just saying...lots o confusion because of that weird little stunt...it was a 50 /50 that people loved the switching sides or hated it...faceing it first hand...that made me hate it....those that heard about it probably thought, "thats a cool twist..."

But I was pissed that our own Corp Medics were healing the APST guys, when they weren't on our team LOL it was really funny that APST just walked up and picked up the Bio box and just walked away with only one person notice that they were making off with the goods. At least Amos got one to center mass for that one. Go PSC / Randal! for picking him off.

Thanks! I am glad some of you were paying attention. I did hear your command element talking about the rogue squad on the radio several times - and I delivered direct intel to them about saboteurs. If the rest of your team wasn't out counting kills and playing like this is a skirm they might have known what was going on. This happens to bad guys a lot - it's part of being OPfor. It's like robbing a bank and then being shot by your accomplice after you make off with the money. If you can't deal with the greed and the backstabbing, stay outta the OPFOR ;)

I had A blast Matt, thanks for all the hard work on this OP man. :D

we (APST) sat in starlog for probably two or three hours at the end of the day waiting for someone to come and kill us and take the bio tube thing back. aside from a couple of exceptions there was never really a heavy concentrated attack there until the very end when some CSDs got in for a few minutes before some of our respawns got back in. after that we took our cardboard tube full of whatever it was that necessitated a biohazard symbol on it back, and we hoofed it down the logging road and extracted to the camping area with most of our group minus the two that kendo managed to ambush somehow on the way.

it was the ten or twelve of us plus the GnG snipers (for maybe half an hour or so, which was as much of a surprise to us as it seems to have been to everyone else) versus EVERYONE else on the field with a gun. if there had been a concentrated attack on our position, there was no way we would have been able to hold out.

i had a good time for the most part. although i dont particularly enjoy the switching sides thing because of the reputation it seems to bring us, after hosting and helping to host some other events i understand why it was done from the event staff point of view.

I enjoyed myself, 15$ games (including cans) at splat action make me happy. I assumed that APST was going to pull something, but was frustrated that the gillie head guys were switched over in the middle of the game. It was something I wasn't aware of until I had one in my crosshairs, didn't shoot him because I recognized him, and then got lit up a second later when he got even closer and saw me. I assumed the "rouge squad" was just APST, and was sort of pissed I got my shoulder and neck torn up by BB's for it. Other then that I had a great time, thanks Matt and all the Admins.

Oh god, I don't wanna think about that yet! So busy! Hopefully we can roll one out soon. But I'd like to get around to see some of the other fields available first.

I really enjoyed the plot twist that occured late in the game. I was at the recieving end of the APST guys and the OPFOR but I loved the game. It was creative, realistic, and created chaos. I belive this twist was not made to turn the tide for the NG because we already had overran the OPFOR before the treason ever occured.
This has been one of my favorite OPs because of the good quality people that showed up. I have never been to a game with so many courteous players. I never once heard insults being thrown around from one team to the other. Great job Matt and staff!

I had a fair time.
my only real gripe is sitting for the first 2 hours of the game, asking for orders for my squad, and being told to stand by.
I got put on hold AT A bleeding OP.
Never recieved any orders, couldn't get a clear answer as to weather I should be killing APST or not, and I swear to got I heard this over the radio:
Command:"Get the communications array to hamburger hill"
Squad1: "The communications array is on hamburger hill"
Squad 2: "No, its not, bring it up here"
Command: "Deploy the comm array"
Squad 2: "Wow, your just not gettin it, I'm on hamburger hill and its not here"
Squad 1: "Yes it is"
Command: "Deploy the comm array then"
Squad2: "Wow, are you all bleeding retarded or something?"
Mystery squad: "broken arrow!"

I had to rip my headset off my head 5 hours in because it was just to much,
and when I went to get orders directly from my CO, I found him and his group trash talking DRAT and Mithril.
Real smooth operator, and even then he still didn't give me any orders!

I swear, as God as my witness, the next OP that needs a CO, I'll volunteer, and I'll make sure every squad as something to do, even if its bleeding dancing around a fire chanting like savages.

Have to say, good times all around. I enjoyed rolling with G&G guys, the three of us bush heads killed a PILE of people. I suppose it didn't help that we all kinda looked alike in the bush (ghillie hats peaking over a log), but we only really rolled together for what amounted to 2 assault waves on starlog. After that, they went their own way and I was the sole sniper back on starlog. Shoot, I even got a pile of pistol kills laying there when you all ran up too close for the bolt.

Have to say though, a coordinated effort would have certainly killed us all. I saw lots of 3-4 man teams trying to make it into the village (where we had ~10 people - 1 M60, 1 bolt, and a bunch of M16/4's). Not going to cut it. Come at us with 15 or so, keep the pressure on (you had medics, we didn't), and we'd have had to displace.

Anyway. Fun game.

Look guys, from the get-go we made it clear we were doing our own thing. I was very up front about it in discussions leading up to the event. We were there to ensure that things did not get static as so often happens at large games. We were not there to "win" the game for ourselves, nor were we there to stack the odds for or against anyone. We were simply sent in to break stalemates keep the fighting up. Most of you took that in stride, some of you whom I talked to in-game were top notch sports about it.

What I liked:
-Generally good combat tempo.
-Lots of people out having fun.

What I didn't like
-Dead Rag hackers: Please don't attend another of our games, we know who you are and you'll be sent home when you show up.
-The Technical laying waste with near impunity.
-Confusion about respawn locations.

To address another issue, I am not at all interested in a prohibition on alcohol at our camp-outs. I would just like to see some personal responsibility and courtesy for others practiced by those participating.

I thought the G&G Guys were going to join the ARNG side. I told them to go link up with an ARNG CO and receive orders, plus told both sides over radio comms that they were switching over. I wasn't really sure how they ended up with APST.
