Yeh... Between that and completing most of our initial objectives too soon I think we messed up the flow of the game a little. Whoops.
Had a great time though. It was messy, chaotic, and a whole lot of fun. We can't wait for the next game.

We had APST back stab us, G&G Snipers shoot our own men down, move the bio weapons up and down left and right every where. and with 70:112 ratio, your a$$ would've been handed to you an hour before the game ended.

Still kicked yo asses wit 2 hours to spare :DDD

Call me crazy, but I just enjoyed the fresh air, lack of sleep, and constant yelling at people :)
And no, we're not going to Faction Wars, my girlfriend wants to see me. Plus, I had enough of the three way for awhile...

I heard that the leader of the Corps sucked a$$, the Corps were kicking a$$, so they fenaggled the game and just kept throwing new things against the Corps until they were losing.

Do you mean the NG leader sucked a$$?

But at the end we had to move the crap to a spot where national guard had there spawn... so that was kind of against us.

Over all the game was okay.. I think the 10$ to play was the right price for this one.

I had a lot of fun today. For things to go sideways was something I was expecting. Not that big of a deal, it's only a game. People will get over it!
C'mon w/ it!

It shouldn't be a big life-changing, grudge-forming deal... But lessons will be learned and stories will be told!

I don't know if that should be said about an individual who volunteers tons of their spare time to try to organize a bunch of yayhoos. Both leaders did the best job they could, considering. I was very happy with their service as volunteers for the CO position. Maybe, whoever said this should get off their a$$ and lead next time if they think they can do a better job.

And this...

That 112 vs 74 number wasn't counting APST. Corp Security Detail was closer to 120 with APST. So, given that you guys mobbed the objectives right off the bat, we had to improvise. Otherwise, the game would have just gotten lame in a matter of 30 minutes. I don't know about you, but I like a challenge. It was either that or force people to change sides when they are dead-set on staying on their own side.

It was apparent that while Corp Security detail was superior in numbers, the US National Guard had more organization and motivation in the end. For some reason Corp Security Detail was taking back the village, even though that wasn't their objective. They seemed more like a bunch of random skirmishers during the last hour of the game, the US side had some semblance of purpose. They worked together even though they were tired, communications were getting hazy, and everybody wanted to quit but they stayed the course! I congratulate them for that.

Folks on the National Guard side,

Having spent 5 hours standing around listening to the combat via radio and wondering what in the world was actually going, I would say we got damned lucky. Corporate Security had the better position and less work to do. They did an excellent job of keeping us on our toes, even if we don't want to think it. The few folks that spent any time around me can probably tell you that I was bloody busy for someone not doing anything besides talking. I benefited from what appeared to be a somewhat unexpected coup about 45 minutes into the game, and if APST hadn't turned out to be a backstabbing bunch of traitors, I think this game would have gone differently.

Matt,

I love the format. Keep using it. Not knowing what exactly I needed to accomplish until I needed to accomplish it made life significantly more entertaining for the folks who were actually playing the same game I did.

Corporate Security,

Good game, hope to see the rematch at Grid 18:3.

Wombat, and everyone else listening.

Wombat did a great job organizing a complete clusterfuck of unorganized (mostly kids). It was reassuring to end up back at spawn and seeing Wombat asking questions on what was going on so he could strategize because radio comm was mostly worthless until the end of the game, and even then radios were starting to stop working.

For those of you who didnt camp the night before, it was extremely useful. My entire squad (Go "G"lamour Squad!!!) was there an we organized ourselves pretty well for the circumstances coming out with a lot of the objectives as well as taking most of the right side of the field. I would recommend camping to anyone.

Great job Matt, Wombat, and everyone who actually read the threads so they didnt phony pony at the game over rules/prices/# of cans.
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Oh, and for the other stuff!

Thanks everybody for coming out. We had 188 registered members, counting staff and admin team we had closer to about 200 as planned. The funny thing is, we had 188 at the first Grid 18. We managed to rustle up about 600lbs of Food for the Oregon Food Bank. Thank you guys so much for donating! They are picking up the barrels at Splat Action today.

Both sides fought very well this weekend. I'd like to thank our COs, Helo and Wombat Six for wrangling everybody as best they could to try and keep things orderly on the battlefield. You both answered about 95% of the time I tried to raise you on the radio.

Thanks Fred for taking pictures, thanks goes out to my admins Vogonford, Dmitri, and Angelo for helping me keep an eye on everything that was going on. And to Scythe and Vogonford again for volunteering for the NPC spot.

Camping was epic! Nocte, you are hilarious. I'm sorry that we had several laughs at your expense. Well, actually, no, I'm not sorry... hahahaha! Stayed up til 2:30am, it was just too much fun talking with and hanging out with everybody. Gunny even busted out Monkey Stories. If you missed out, shame on you! It's been such a long time that I've shared a campsite with Gunny and Angelo - was like the good ol' days. And the DRAT camp was full of entertainment as usual. I really wish we could have had fires, but even still it was a nice warm night and we all seemed to have a good time.

Few things I LIKED about this OP:

1. Radio comms with COs worked very well.

2. The APC rocked! Thanks DJ and crew for bringing that out.

3. No breaks, total carnage from start to finish - one objective leading up to the next with no breaks in the flow of the game.

4. Separate briefings per side, allowed me to speak directly to each side about their objectives and their motives.

A couple things I would CHANGE:

1. Clearer vehicle rules, some of the truck nonsense was a little annoying, although it stopped a stalemate in the village not once but TWICE (Once per each team).

2. I would have moved the third National Guard force down the logging road with a troop transport instead of having them walk through the field in the beginning.

3. The starting sequence was a little hazy. I had intended for the Corp Security Detail to hold off and wait at outposts before the game started but they were chompin at the bit and way ahead of themselves. Hence the reason they had objectives so quickly. That's mostly my bad for not communicating that in the beginning.

All in all, I had a lot of fun. This OP was entertaining to watch and it was exciting to see the outcome. Both sides did an excellent job and I actually hope to run another one of these soon. It's been so long since I have personally run an OP, I forgot just how tiring and time consuming this is - but it's well worth it. I had a blast!

God dayum. I was tired last night.

As always, camping was half the fun, even though I didn't get there til about 11:15pm.
For $15 and some cans of food, it was pretty darn good.

The only action going on the first platoon spawn was kids playing paintball... My spawn was in the woods, past that chrono, past the parking lot.

I wish the action had been moved there, then I wouldn't have had a 10+ minute round trip hike to respawn everytime, would have been much nicer to be able to drag a spawn tent around with us everywhere.
