I'm a little offput by the impression standards to be honest. In theory, I could wear my CAG impression (ACUs, RAV, modern carbine) and still conform to the rules of this event, which is set in the 80's. I'd be more enticed if I saw uniform standards being strict. An entire impression for this event, Ranger or Marines, could be purchased for under $30 so I can't imagine it being a cost issue.

Anyways, still seems like it could be great, as long as the site is utilized to its fullest. I'll have my eye on this thread. Thanks!

We would also like to see everyone in 80's gear so that the exercise is as authentic as possible. The only reason we are allowing the modern uniform is because we have a lot of people who just started on new teams and went out and spent hundreds of dollars building their impression and loadout. We would rather not exclude these individuals from participating.

I do agree with you though. It is a new venture for us and we are gearing towards the full immersion Operations but like everything it takes time and patience. Ya have to bend a little...for now. ;)

Mars,

Thanks for the feedback. The simple matter is we're trying to make this as accessible to the player base as possible, and one concession we had to make was easing up on the uniform restrictions.

Spokane Airsoft is conducting a shift this year ... in addition to the standard skirmish-of-the month the community will have more MIL / SIM events to participate in.

So this is our introductory level event, to be followed in April by Operation Hastings, a fully immersive Vietnam two-day event to be held in Kettle Falls.

I agree with Mars...I would be far more enthusiastic about this if you were to either tighten up the uniform restrictions (which are cheap anyways) or just make it a modern event.

I like this idea. I also agree and disagree with the uniform stuff. Like everyone says, 80's, 80's uniforms. But like you said Headhunter, it's supposed to encompass everyone. I can appreciate that. You should have the uniform patterns be any US Pattern from the 80's. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Again, as I explained to Mars, since this is our first immersion event we're doing the crawl-walk-run thing.

After people get a taste of what this is about we'll be tightening up uniform, weapons and gear requirements in subsequent events.

On an unrelated note, I know mcnair was asking about it over SA so to confirm I talked with the field owner last night and he gave us the green light for camping Friday night. Cost is $5 and we have room for both tents as well as an RV or two.

Update Feb. 6th 2009:

Spots are filling up fast. Out of the 30 open spots for the Marines there are only 8 left. The Rangers, on other hand, still have 22 openings left. If you are interest in signing up for this, now is the time before the chance is gone. Camping is available for friday for only $5.00. Hope to see you guys there to support the East Side.

There will be the possibility that we will have open spots on the day of but there is no gaurentee to that. The best way to make sure that you are on the roster is to prepay or send us a check or money order so we can reserve you a spot. Go to SA and create an account, if you do not already have one, and send a pm to KBAR aka Rob and ask him if he can set something up for you.
