Ka-Bar, I'd love to meet you in person, or at the very least talk on the phone with you. I know you can't possibly be as shot-worded and hostile as you come across. You seem to have a lot to say, I'd like to offer you the opertunity to talk live and chat, as admittedly I am new to this sport and would value your thoughts.

Show me you're interested in doing more than just sniping at me by sending me a PM. We can hook up further from there.

hellmutt wrote:The wonderful thing about Airsoft growing is that there are all kinds of different games going with all kinds of people coming to them. I am sure there is a growing non-milsim market but the majority of player do get into airsoft because of the milsim nature of the game. Evergreen is kinda in the middle and we (Battlesim) are very much into the simulation aspect of the game along with most of the major teams and clubs in the area. Most people who play airsoft do so because they want to play army. Paintsoft (what you are describing) is not popular among the tacsim and milsim community. The reason being is that most people in all honesty don't want airsoft going in the direction that you are taking it. I think that you will find the current airsoft community will generally give you a cold shoulder when promoting these types of games. Please note, that I say "most" as I am sure there is a growing community of players who simply want to play capture the flag games with realisitc looking weapons and civilian clothes but many of those players play in their backyards, family property or without permission on pubic or private land. So I am glad there is an alternative for these players.

I was actually thinking of getting a group together to go play but unfortunately the style of play you are promoting is excatly the opposite of what we like doing. We have a private events section on our board that you are free to post on and I would go ahead and post it over on Evergreen's private events section as well. We do.

As for tips in the promoting and runnning of airsoft games, the best thing to do is to start attending local games so people know who you are. The airsoft community is very much about reputation. If you don't have one people generally assume the worst as you can see here.

In any case, good luck. Let us know how it goes. Don't expect massive turn outs but just keep plugging along. Just stick with it and it will grow. If you have games that your customers enjoy, they will come back. Those who don't, won't.

Thanks for the great feedback. I know that MilSim is a huge part of Airsoft here in Washington. Part of the reason I'm doing the types of events I'm doing and plan on doing is that I didn't want to compete with any existing establisments and I didn't want to play army. I'm an old school Doom and Quake Video Game player and I want to be able to translate that fun to live action.

That type of play isn't something that I've seen done and in my searches locally for a team to play with has not turned up.

The way I see it there's a gap in the AirSoft sport, and I think Imay be able to fill it.

I also want to promote AirSoft as a safe and fun activity that people of all ages can enjoy and do so while learing basic weapon handling, safetey, maintanence and good sportsmanship.

I've never had any interest in the military real or fake and the thought of running drills, marching, taking orders, striving for rank... quite honestly sends cold chills down my spine. So I'm very happy that there's a large MilSim community here that already has places to go and events to attend because I'll never host one of them.

As for attending local games that's something I've looked into and so far I haven't found one that looked low-key enough. I'd be thrilled to do a pickup game or a light skirmish, but I'm really not interested in beign a soldier on any serious level. I want a more relaxed experience and I'm hoping that others do too.

When I get a bit more organized I'd be happy to post on your board in the private section and will for Evergreen Airsoft as well.

Thanks for your time and thoughtfull reply, hope to see you out there.

One final note, just because I'm running relaxed game types doesn't mean that you and your squad can't play in the team events or use whatever tactics you want during a game.

Thanks again.

Each to his own.

Hell, Niall runs a Zombie game every year at Halloween, it doesn't have a hell of a lot to do with milsim but it's still fun.

As long as Dantes says thay it is OK, you may post it, hold it and play it. I hope that this will end the bickering. Thanks Matt.

Just a reminder that this open event is this SATURDAY at 10:00am in Maple Valley.

Should be a nice small group so we'll have lots of gameplay options.

RabidS,
Don't worry about the naysayers.
Some people don't have anything else better to do w/ their time than fret over shit posted on the forums.

It's cool. I'm new and nobody knows me yet.

They will, and then we'll all have fun together.

Takes time and I'm cool with that.

Yea its pretty good.

Depending on the weekend and the other stuff going on we have the whole 27 acres to about half that if there's other stuff happening.
