We had an excellent time! Definately worth the 9 hours and 600 miles we drove!
STRIKEZONE AAR
Saturday 30 SEP 2006
0530 - Battlesim players start waking up all across the Puget Sound region. Link up is at 0800 in Tacoma and there's a full day
of driving ahead. "Must find coffee. . ." mumbles a bleary eye'd Hellmutt as he stumbles from the couch to the kitchen. The first
to arrive are Stash and Timothy "Slim" DooWop O'Malley at 0709. They wait in the car until my family gets out of their PJs! 0801
Eke, Mars, and Koz pull into the back and start swapping gear to the Chilton. 0814 P90Mike pulls in and becomes a driver. We head
out around 0834.
0834-1226 - Driving. A lot. Traffic. Unusually high. Hellmutt takes a random exit and uses the "force" to find the facility. P90
uses a GPS. Hellmutt arrives, 2.8 seconds before P90.
1240-1345 - Gear up, gear down, gear up, gear down. . . waiting. Watching. Eating. Logan has some cheese burgers and sodas for us!
That really hit the spot. Good call on feeding us chow. It made the wait more tolerable. I mean how much airsoft can you play with a
burger in one hand and a soda in the other?
1355-1830 - We run our first game. The seven of us against a team of 8. It's a find the case and recover it or kill the other team
game. We get spanked. When we take our first contact, it's like we are a bunch of school girls running around looking for cover and
at each other. I start yelling commands but no one can understand me through the shahmag! "What? You want me to move to the . . .
hit!" We watch each other get taken out systematically one at a time. Uggh. The whole thing lasted maybe 5 minutes. It was ugly.
We regroup and get ready for another game. This time it is a VIP game. The other team needs to get a VIP from one stairwell to
another. It's a pretty good game concept but I would have liked the VIP team to have had to rescue the VIP a la Counterstrike. In
any case, there was confusion on where the team was coming up to and where they were extracting. So, we ended up guarding the wrong
areas. I got split off from the group due to a weapons malfunction and was eliminated in the room right next to the extraction point.
We lost this game too. . .
Uggh. A new game is called, ACU v. Not. It's 9 on 25. There are 7 of us in ACU and 2 local players who fight with us. This time it
is a timed game with re-gens. Our team gets bogged down in the SW corner where our spawn is. We are on a long axis coming out of the
spawn on the Blue hall. There are over a dozen different doors on this hall. It is much like hell trying to get out. We slug through
trying to be a little defensive but finally the other team is completely on our re-gen area. They get told to push back and we start
battling out some more. Many deaths, many kills, massive action. . . yeah! Pure plastic slug-fest. Great game.
We continue the ACU v. Not theme and play another slug-fest. By this time, Battlesim has turned it up a notch. Took a while to get
the lead out but now we are aggressing and starting to move as a cohesive team. No time to stack, we simply form up and take out position
after position. Yeah, this is the stuff. . .
The briefcase games. These were fun. Simple concept, get the case in fight club back to your extraction point. Teams start on opposite
corners. The beginning is a rush to Fight Club. Then the battle begins. P-90 Mike and Eke take positions to cover the entrances to the
room. Koz and I guard the back area where the other team needs to extract to. The rest of the team moves around fight club to interdict
and slow down progress to the club. Once we obtain fire superiority in Fight Club, Koz and I come out from the back and make a push on
case. I get up to the stage and take a rash of fire from the eastern corner entrance. Best I can do is stay low grab the case and slide
it toward our other players. Once I do this I get up and run to the back entrance! BB's are flying all over place but I don't get hit!
I figured I must have gotten hit, so I headed back to re-gen anyway. By the time I get back, I hear "game over"! Apparently Eke, did a
power slide to get the case and then high tailed it to the extraction point! This was the best game of the day. High intensity, massive
action, tons of deaths and kills. Pure CQB madness.
Not ACUs starting loosing player who went home starting around 1700. With the decrease of numbers, the games got faster and we played another
3 games before finally calling it quits! All high action, super fun and CQB action to the fullest!
Thanks to Abe and Logan who made this possible. Big thanks to all the controllers and admins who addressed any issue that came up during the
game. They really helped to make the games flow smooth and kept the action going. Huge thank you to all the people who made it out to play,
while it's fun to play guns in the dark - it helps to have things to shoot at!
