Lions Claws XI

Postby Variable » Mon May 28, 2012 2:47 pm

LC XI was one of the most intense games I've played in the best AO I've ever been to. It was money and time well spent.

Y'all missed out that didn't go.

Care to give a more detailed AAR? I missed this one due to being on the East Coast for my sister's graduation & a stroke conference up in Maine and I'd love to hear what made it awesome.

I'm working on one.

Anybody who wants pictures can also go see them on AP's facebook:

Also, we ran 3-4 helmet cameras almost the whole time so there's video to come :)

Game was amazing, it was awesome rolling with Matt, Tim and the rest of the SOTA Beezy's. Between Matt and Karma I am sure there will be at least a couple of kick ace videos soon.

I will be cutting video from 3 helmet cams over the next week and will post up soon. Absolutely legit though, the AO was incredible. It was a MOUT wet dream.

The AO was amazing. 20 blocks of military housing, 1 story small homes and 2 story apartment buildings. Given the condition of the homes and the fact that we're in the Mojave Desert, it really felt like we were in some third-world country. The homes also had storage units out back and cinder block walls by their patios, which provided more cover outside.

18176 18174 18177

There were plenty of vehicles, some were brought by players and others were part of the event. Troop transport trucks, an m113, a modified pickup truck, and a couple fast attack vehicles. No ATVs with plywood armor. Unlike some events I have been to, the gunners on the vehicles could be shot. Only the driver was off limits from shooting at. This made the vehicles a threat, but a regular rifleman with balls could still shoot the gunner with a well-aimed shot.

18194 18195 18193

They had a semi-auto only rule inside the buildings that was ignored or forgotten by some players, that was really one of my only gripes about the rules. Other than that, as always some players disputed safety kills (bang bang). But everyone was very honorable, folks called their hits. I only heard a player call somebody else out once during the entire weekend. Whatever they were using for simulated Air Strikes on buildings was EXTREMELY LOUD and awesome, having that report to tell us when the strike hits was really helpful.

The folks from Black Ops Elite and Tango 5 out of Utah were totally awesome. 4th platoon was the shit. I couldn't ask for better teams to run with. Mad-Max Mullen himself pointed out the BoE Flag in front of the entire Bravo force and said "See this flag, follow this flag into the battle." We were on the front lines all day. Thanks SOTA, for inviting Tim and I to join your squad. Bravo was outnumbered by quite a bit, but we still put up a good fight and were only 15 points behind according to final scores.

Very well organized game, great admin staff - I would definitely pay to play again next year if I can make time for it. Definitely worth the money. In the end, honestly I didn't even care about a raffle, but it's worth mentioning that they had lots of cool stuff that I wasn't lucky enough to win.

I really wish more folks from the AP community could have been there. Let's go next year!

So, how was the amount of hacking?

I would assume minimal, considering the price of it, and the amount that it takes to get to LC.

Also, how does the respawn system work? Are there certain areas around your AO that are respawn points?

Call the surgeons and tell them to take the day off, because I'll be doing all the operating now.

There's a point where this needs to stop, and we've clearly passed it

Matt & Variable. . was a wicked fun time rolling with you guys down there. . . you guys are hard pushers and was fun to include you with my old BoE bro's. Now that I'm up in the Pac. NW and playing with the S.O.T.A. men. . I look forward to rolling fun events up here with you guys. . .I love aggressive play and you guys were right behind me whenever I looked back. . .

To Variable. . man, again I apologize. . I'm a big kid and play too hard sometimes. . I'm the proverbial "bull in a china shop" all too often. Too much rough housing can create a mess, I guess I should have listened to my parents more. . . no hard feelings??!!??

To my new found awesome group of friends the S.O.T.A. men. . . I had a wonderful TIME!! it was an awesome road trip and an even better fight to have you there!

Looking forward to next year with you. . . it'll be my 4th MemDay LC event!

Bravo Co really ruled the day. . !!!

Like I mentioned, most players were honorable. I heard a couple others complain about people not calling hits but I never had a problem with it myself. Compared to the events around here, as far as hacking goes, I'd say this is like one of our better events.

The respawn for this game was much like our sector control events where you can respawn at a specific sector if you control it and it's not contested. Each team also had a hard respawn that could not be captured. When you died, you sat in place for 5 minutes before heading to respawn. They also loaded up large numbers of respawned players into troop transports to truck them back up to the front lines.

Looks like fun! glad to hear they run a tight game and do not let it end up being a big cluster F. Bummed I couldn't go this year, have to try to make one next year.

That would be great to have real vehicles. Apart from the cost of getting them, transport, damage to the fields we have available, on and on. So i guess were stuck with plywood until some rich sob shows up with a real m113 :)

I had a blast. The guys in DCU's (our OPFOR) were being douchey, not calling hits, and sometimes blatantly hacking. At the end of the game when John Lu asked who was from California, 90% of the guys in DCU's were fist pumping- go figure.

Also, I didn't win anything at the waffle.
