Thoughts on how well this would work.

Postby icebullet » Wed Jun 08, 2011 7:14 pm

Hey all,

I've gotten into a predicament, as I am receiving an E1 M28, and I'm not really the sit back and just shoot kinda person. So, if I had a lowER power scope and maybe 5-8 mags, could I be a lesser sniper, etc. I'm quite capable of carrying a full sized rifle.

I would like to say this would work, but I don't know how many people would actually be okay with it, considering it's a 500+ FPS rifle.

Also, I would use my CA MP5K PDW as a sidearm. It isn't much, but when around close quarters, it's an extremely viable piece.

I do have a G&G Combat Machine, but it's a lot larger and more mags= more weight

Thoughts?

Should work as long as you observe proper safety kill range and whatnot. If you like more action I'd suggest using the automatic anyway.

I have personal experience with this, i'll translate

so you're not the sit back and shoot kind of person but you have an m28 and want to be a "lesser sniper"?
Does not compute. Use your m28 for what it's for, Sniping. If you want to run around with it then you shouldn't have bought it. I think what you're getting at is that you want to be a more of a scout sniper. That's fine but i'm not sure an mp5k would be a good side arm. I'll bet you'll be using the mp5k more often then the sniper because you'll run to close to people. There are engagement ranges with bolt actions that I think you'll find yourself crossing if you don't want to "sit back"

hope this helped

Yeah. That's the word I'm looking for. Scout Sniper.

I'll try to be more clear in the future.

Unless you really know what you're doing, scout sniping will just get you killed.

No! Baaad....

"Scout Snipers" are not great assets because they get "s00p4 dudzorz sn1p0rz killz". They are useful because of that little "scout" part there. If you want to be a "Sniper" that doesn't use stealth, then consider yourself outgunned ~90% of the time. If you try to field a bolt gun against even a slightly larger force, you will be overwhelmed and outmaneuvered quicker than you can empty your first magazine.

TL;DR: No. Use an auto.

I use my bolt action in a precision marksman role. I run in a squad, not ghillied up, and am often in a leadership position. If you want to run in a group and use a bolt, have at it. Keep your engagement distances in mind, and carry a sidearm.

Yeah you're thinking more like a high speed sniper kind of thing. If I was doing that, I would not want to tote around an M28. Not the lightest bolt around for that kind of thing. The TM G-Spec would be good as would the Well MB02.

I think the term that people are looking for is Designated Marksman. Just sayin', is all.

Get an Eberlestock backpack, store the M28 in it while you are on the move, and run around with your M-4 in your hands. Have fun.

Yeah.

Don't bleeding run a bolt if you aren't ready to sit back and take the proper position as a marksman.
