mid caps always jamming!!!

Postby Skunk Ape » Tue Jun 07, 2011 7:13 pm

i have real sword midcaps and they jam nearly every time!!! end up reloading full mags...very frustrating. ive put a couple silicone drops in to try and work in, it seems to me that they are "double stacking" on me when they are single stack mags. maybe i am over loading? i dont even put in a full pistol mag type quick loader.... suggestions?? looking to buy a 10 pack also of new mags, whats a good 10 pack to buy prefer metal 130 ish mids. pmag 75's ok??

I spray a good amount of silicone in mine after two or three uses.

Riddick has really good 120 rnd metal mids for $10 a piece i believe. I have p-mags, they are 80 rnd, but when i changed my hopup, i started to have a feed issue.

I know the Star pmags hate G&P's. But I use them in my CA and my old Echo 1 and they feed fine. My friend has some of the Riddick mags and they don't feed in his VFC. You should look into investing G&P midcaps. Best mags out there.

Your problem is you're probably overloading them. Just shoot some silicon down there, and load them with BBs FULLY, then empty them, and repeat 2-3 times. The next time you load them, load 10-20 bbs LESS than full, and they won't jam.

EDIT: I have a set of King Arms brand midcaps for my m4, and the feed perfectly.

No need to by new magazines. Real Sword magazines are the best out there (G&P internals and real steel shell) and all magazines jam at one point or another.

To fix this disassemble the magazines, take out the plastic spring housing, take out the spring, and split open the housing. You should have your magazine complete disassembled now. Wash the spring and the plastic housing with soap and water. Wipe it down with a towel and let it dry. After it's dry put some silicone oil on the spring and on the plastic housing where the spring and bbs go. Then reassemble the magazine the same way you disassembled it but vise versa.

I did this with all my magazines after they kept jamming even after I put silicone oil in them. Now, they work flawlessly.

Hope this helps.

I'll ask Dan if I can borrow one of his Real Sword magazines and make a guide and/or video on how to take 'em apart and clean them. Magazines are dirt simple unlike AEGs, so it's not hard.

This is part 1 of 3 videos on how to fix mags. Look in the description for the other video links. I haven't watched them all, but should give a basic knowledge on how to do it.

Yep. King arms are also my choice for M4 midcaps. They work flawlessly for me. G&P are great quality but they will not fit in any of my Mag wells, so I can't use them.

You have to work springs in on midcaps. a few drops of oil and run 2 or 3 loaders through them. At first, you wont be able to get a 90 Rd loader in most midcaps without messing up the spring. After 5 or 10 times loading you should be able to get a full 90-100 Rds in most "120 -130 rd midcaps. I don't put more than that in my mags because of past experience with spring failures.

You will be able to tell by feel if your overloading. The resistance of the spring changes and gets a different feel, almost gummy resistance when the loader is squeezed.

I didn't lube my Real Sword mags when I got them and haven't had any issues with them. I did lube all my other mags. I took one of those tube loaders, loaded about 10-20 BBs into the tube, then squirted oil into the tube and fed them into the mags. Let them sit overnight standing up, then in the morning, dump the BBs in the trash, and leave them upside down overnight again.
