Need Actors for COBRA Troopers

Postby Darius137 » Mon Dec 06, 2010 5:07 am

I'm putting on a game tentatively for April and I need a couple dozen COBRA troopers. The look is this, approximately:

With other props and structures and gameplay, it is prohibitively expensive for the game to be hosted (roughly $3,500) so I'm asking for volunteers willing to buy the COBRA trooper suit.

I can get discounts on the items for the gear, and can subsidize the purchase, so your reward for acting in the role (besides the fun of playing COBRA) will be a suit at about half of the retail cost (or less).

Here's the uniform:
Helmet (MICH2000)
Image
Neck Gaiter, Black
Image
Set of black ALICE gear (belt, H harness, 2x M16 magazine pouches, 2x Canteen cover + canteens, Buttpack)
Image
Navy Blue Flight Suit
Image

Cost of all of this is right at $90 with cost. All gear is brand new, to ensure COBRA trooper uniformity. The real costs here are the new ALICE pouches and gear, which doesn't matter too much as far as new or old, so if you can find some old ALICE gear and paint/dye it black, it could save quite a bit on the overall cost (at cost it's still $50 for the new, complete, ALICE setup in black).

If the game has the roster fill up with interested players, I can subsidize it (pay the difference) to about $60 or so. Paint for the COBRA emblem and Navy Blue helmet will be provided and done up with the rest of the uniforms.

Also required would be black gloves and boots, which I can help you get at price as well if you don't have them.

As far as the game, you'll be encouraged to dress as elite units (what elite is to you is your decision. It can be matching camouflage and loadouts a la modern or historical units, or it can be Dutch's team from Predator, etc. GI Joe teams are highly encouraged, but please tell us which Joes you'll be running so we can not have duplicate Joes being rescued from the POW camp).

Also, what do you guys think about the MICH2000 style for helmets? It's prohibitively expensive to get WW2 German helmets, though I think that'd be more to regs for them.

Another helmet option:

Game will be one weekend long. I prefer people willing/able to do both days or have a willing friend they can loan their gear to for the second day. Saturday and Sunday for 9-5 days.

To keep weapon uniformity, M4's or black weaponry is preferred, though they do sell AK and M14 magazine pouches for ALICE elsewhere, it'd just be outside of my ability to purchase at cost and would raise the price a bit.

So if we are going to attend this game in character, should we call dibs now on who we would like to be?

Not really, because each team that goes through will be a stack of 5-12 and not interact with other stacks going through.

BUT if one particular stack has a guy playing Bazooka in their stack, then we would make sure not to have Bazooka in the game for that round.

Bazooka:

Ah, so this is a CQC type game, not an outdoor OP? Did I miss a thread explaining what the game is? I am interested in this game being that I am a Joe fan, but I don't know about the rest of my team yet.

Might be able to get a discount on these if you order them in bulk

No post about the game yet. This is all pre-game logistical stuff.

The cost being discussed is for those who are going to be volunteering to act in the game, not for those who are going to be playing.

I think you might be completely insane. I'd be in for Cobra, of course. Llama also.
