CQC Construction Idea's

Postby Chesty_01 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:17 pm

Not sure if everyone knows yet but we are building a CQC town area up at The Farm. It will be open for OP: Ride the Lightning and I start on it tomorrow. I was wanting some input before construction occurs. I have drawn out plans of the buildings already but I was more thinking of what to put inside. Some of the buildings are rather large so my questions are;

In a 1000 sq ft building, how many rooms do you like?

Build it like a 3 bedroom house or have a shit ton of rooms?

More windows or less?

Props inside the buildings?

Swinging doors or not?

Extra wide door opening or standard 30" like a house?

I have a lot of construction experience so don't mistake these for being janky structures. They are 2x4 framed and sheeted buildings built just like a house.

thanks for your input.

I've played cqb for a while, here are my opinions
In a 1000 sq ft building, how many rooms do you like?
as much as you can fit with an open perimeter around all the rooms

Build it like a 3 bedroom house or have a shit ton of rooms?
see number 1

More windows or less?
less

Props inside the buildings?
of course!

Swinging doors or not?
NO!

Extra wide door opening or standard 30" like a house?
standard, it's more realistic and harder to splice

what do you mean? Like a race track around the rooms

This is not indoors just so you know. It is like rolling through an alley way and having buildings all around you

I agree with Patrick750 all the way, especially with the props and standard doors. My only question is, does this mean that OP: Ride the Lighting will be CQC fps limits now? Because I only have a field gun.

"NO" It is not a CQC Event..There will be special requirements for shooting in and or out of the buildings. 99% of the playing will be outdoor with good ranges.

Ok sweet, it sounds good to me! The only thing I can say as for the amount of rooms, is more than 3, but not too many. Maybe 5 - 7 rooms. :D

In a 1000 sq ft building, how many rooms do you like?
one big room with a large hallway all around.

Build it like a 3 bedroom house or have a shit ton of rooms?
the big room should have flipable tables and effective cover everywhere, except for a fairly large space (30 sq or more) in the middle that is empty except for some form of objective. possibly on like some kind of supervisor's desk.

the outer hall way should be divided by multiple doorways and have only two entrances into the large room, one on each side.

More windows or less?
yes, a bunch on the outside of the hall way, then maybe 2 or three on each non-door side of the large room that look in from the hallway.
Props inside the buildings?
possibly a large conference room in the middle or even a cubicled office building, so scatter(and by that i mean superglue down) some cherry red staplers and trashed computers.

Swinging doors or not?
yes

Extra wide door opening or standard 30" like a house?
standard.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

I'd say build it like a house. Don't lay it out with airsoft in mind; lay it out with realism in mind. No weird holes to shoot through, waist-height barriers, or anything like that. Walls, windows to the outside, maybe one window/pass-through from the "kitchen" to the dining area, and rooms. Buildings are more fun when they don't look like swiss cheese.

If you do this... All you will have is a speedball course.

You might as well do the layout like a real house. (living room, kitchen area & bedrooms)

lots of center fed and conner fed rooms.

long hallways double wide with rooms on both sides.

stair wells.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

Damn Chesty, you goin to build it all by yourself? How many buildings are you planning on having? That and where are you going to put 'em? When I was there Sunday I didn't see hardly any free space that wasn't occupied by a tree.

I agree with Grayson. Build it like an actual "village", as you stated. make it seem realistic, not just like a speedball course.
