Age Limits at Games

Postby Darius137 » Mon Sep 13, 2010 1:07 am

So we have age limits sometimes at games. You always get people complaining? 18? I'm only 17. 15? I'm only 13. 13? I'm only this many (4).

Is it for maturity reasons or legal reasons?

If it's for legal reasons, we should have a 40 cap too. 18-40. Anything less and you could hurt yourself out there. Anything more and you could have a heart attack.

I don't see whats the big deal. If they only want 18+ then thats what they want, shouldn't matter if its legal or not.

I always just told them what they wanted to hear; since i always wanted to play- and since i never disrespected anyone or spoke out of turn I wasn't bothered.

I believe its maturity than the actual age itself.

Should be all ages welcome, the dad & mom can bring their 6yr old and play & make it more of a family oriented sport/game, but of course, safty comes first (goggles, right kind of shoes..).
18+ yr old can do their boozing/smoking stuff after the game or during the breaks, 6-10 can form their own little circle play with their pokemon/go-gos stuff, 13-16 can hide somewhere to talk about the pre-teen puppy love stuff, 30 & above can discuss their finacial, love affair stuff somewhere..
But during the game, we are all doing the same shxt, maybe just 40yr old Don not running as fast as 10yr old Johnson :)

if i was to make a pie chart of the hackers and people who make game play suck, i would have a 5% slice for the adults. kids fill up the rest.

that is why. because when the adults want to play we want to have fun, not deal with petty bullshit.

For me it's usually a personal preference, but that's not always the case with every event and every venue.

After hosting Holy Wars this weekend, I can say that about 80% of the People i caught Cheating were at least over 18.

Out of the problems with peoples Egos flaring on the field. It was "Adults".

: (

The Next holy wars MIGHT be 17+, with I.D. Anyone Under the Age of 17 will need an Invite, or have someone of age who can vouch for them.

I can understand though, when you catch the adults cheating or not calling hits, you bust and they go to respawn. The Kids tend to get pissed off, and start spouting off a bunch of crap.

Just smile and wave (Good Bye).

If the host wants higher age limits, fine. If they want lower age limits fine. Some people in this community don't want to run around with 14 year olds in jeans and hoodies.

Don't complain about it, there are plenty of other games out there. It's not as if the 1 game of the year is a game that you can't go to. Suck it up. Hell, I was 19 before I started playing...

good points pickles.

i have done lot of time admining, watching the general community play at various fields both indoor and outdoors.

i have worn the vest, and gone undercover as a player admin.

my experience is in direct conflict with what you are saying. sorry broski.

if you are over 18 you have lots of time invested into the hobby and if you get busted hacking, its not long before you get outed, and expelled or blacklisted by promoters.

if your a kid, its a summer time fling, and if you get outted as a hacker who cares, your 14, you have no accountability, and summer is over, its back to school and another year of life, and chances are moving on to some other activities in life.

see where this is going?

most teams wont blink a eye over this that matter here in our community. why? because they have a 18+ rule to be on thier team.

you must be 18+ to get a replica with out bending the rules.

so really all i see is a bunch of irresponsible parents, who cave in and get thier kids or allow thier kids to posses dangerous toy guns that can produce bodily harm to themselves or each other. then foisting those said kids off onto promoters to babysit for the day like it was a soccer league or something.

and then there is the fact that there are assholes like me out there in the bushes that like to shoot people in the face, and so i shoot some poor mouth breathers tooth out and guess who's parents have to foot the $1300 root canal and post and cap bill for lil timmy's lost front tooth, or the lonley tooth fairy and his missing $5 reward under his pillow. then they try to get pissy and throw the book at the promoter or the field owner or whatever. ( chances are if its a kid, i shot out his baby tooth and the new one will grow back.....crooked!)

thats why.

Wow....just wow....

The biggest concern that I have is just maturity and the ability to follow instructions....The people who want to run around like headless chickens, well they should find the appropriate venue. One of our better team members is 13. He is patient and will wait till instructed to fire. He can follow instructions to the letter. I have seen some pretty out of control 20+ year olds. So I guess its pretty much a matter of maturity, not just the age number for me.

Your "quote" has been archived in my future tort file. The lack of perspective and statement of intent boggles the mind.

actually its a quote from you in my dickswinging thread on the PLA boards. since you have never sat infront of me, how would you know anything of my 12 years of earned skills as a sushi chef.

that is probably the first point where you lost perspective and got your mind boggled.

I would imagine that from an insurance standpoint (becasue I am an insurance agent) that the 18 year old limit makes it so much easier to deal with. An 18 year can sign a legal binding contract, under 18 you can't (of course the parent or gaurdian can). Let me rephrase that....under 18 can sign, but it doesn't make it valid. Most special events policies don't even provide participant coverage at all, meaning that if someone is injured in the course of the event, they aren't covered under the event policy. Sure, there is coverage if the organizer hurts someone, but not if they just hurt themselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure maturity has something to do with it, but I think an insurance company that provides coverage to these events would much rather have participants that are over 18.

Waivers.....most people think that because there is a waiver, the orgainzer/land owner can't be sued. Not true at all. I think of waivers as minor speed bumps on the way to a lawsuit. Sure, it is one extra level of protection, but a suit can still happen. Mainly they serve as a reminder that what you are about to do could potentially result in an injury, and that the organizer or land owner isn't responsible for that injury.

I have seen hacking all around the age groups. I’ve seen 15 year olds playing above their age and I’ve seen 45 year olds play below their age. Here’s the difference…If you’re 15 and you hack, I almost expect it a little. I remember what it was like to be young and stupid (sorry 15 year olds, the vast majority of you don’t know shit yet.) However, if you’re my age and you hack...at airsoft...how sad is your life?

Ultimately, we're all adults running around with toy guns. Let's keep it in perspective.
