KWA SR-10. Going to the Grave.

Postby Octose » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:49 pm

Purchased her back in November of 09 (Veterans Day actually). After about 3 months of use, Tappet plate cracked, and bucking was ripped. KWA Authorized dealer replaced them. About a month ago, she locked up again. Sent her in to KWA and I get an email today stating that My Piston has been broken aswell as my gears, and my bucking is in need of replacement.

What I'm concerned is, isn't this a Lemon? I can't invest $200 of repairs into a gun I paid $400 for. I don't have the money to do costly repairs like these.

How could I have broken both my gears AND piston!? I thought KWA's gears were the best of the best, and let alone, there piston is extremely well fortified. The gun is stock and has been put ~35,000 rounds...

Torsten,
Please call me at your earliest convenience to discuss your repair at 626-581-1777. Our techs have had a chance to diagnose the issues with your gun and it looks as though your piston and gears have broken, you also were in need of a new bucking.
Give me a call when you can so we can get your approval and billing info for the completion of your repair. I can be reached Monday thru Friday 9-5 PST.

Thank you,

Jim

Dude, that sucks pretty bad. If you need to borrow a gun at a game just let me know. I have a few that you could use for a while.

KWA's gears aren't anywhere near as strong as the best available.

A $400 gun shouldn't be breaking after three months, you should try and get your money back.

The design is top notch, I've NEVER heard of KWA Gears breaking or stripping.

Zing!
Anyway, I'd ask for a replacement, that seems pretty ridiculous.

Damn, Octose, I thought you were only needing a new pinion, not a whole new damn gearbox. Well, lemons'll be lemons.
Please, I insist.

My concern is this.
Torsten,
Considering that you have had the gun since November and had a shop work on it before sending the gun directly to us, we can't diagnose any of the issues as it was in stock form. Once a 3rd party touches the internals of the product, we can't diagnose the issues after the fact due to what someone else may have done.
If you would like to send the gun in for our Service Center to diagnose, we absolutely do out of warranty repair as well and can let you know what the gun will need to work properly for you. Service Center fees are $35 for labor, $15 to ship back to you, plus the cost on any parts needed for the repair. I can issue you an RMA if you would like to send it in for the repair.
Let me know how you would like to proceed.

Thank you,

Jim

I don't understand how if a third party in which offers you double warranty will void your lemon.

Who offered the double warranty? Did the first shop you sent it to offer a warranty for their repairs?

I think what KWA is saying, is that because they don't know what the shop that you sent it to did to the internals, they can't give you a warranty as if it was brand new from them.

Most companies that manufacture, well anything, have the same rule. They can't be certain that the product hasn't been tampered with once it has been cracked open. Basically it is a liability issue.

the gear box got cracked open by someone other then the original manufacturer. this has voided the manufacturers warrenty. if the person who did the work on the gun the frist time did not give you a warrenty on thier work, that is a problem, but as for the manufacturer they specificly have a label over the gear box, much like a liquor bottle has a label on the seal ( is that right kevin, or mcnair?...LOL)

once the seal is broken, the unicorn is set free and no more rainbows shall shine on your decrepid field of woe.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

Octose I would see how much they want to charge you to fix it, if it is outside of your price range I would have them ship it back to you, and talk to Jesse at ASONW, he can pretty make anything work and just save for the parts you need.

Pickles I know you love dboys but KWA is a much better quality AEG then what dboys makes, I have personally worked many of both. Also I will believe what shogun tells me over your friend since he has worked on thousands of AEG's.

This is the first time I have ever heard of a KWA completely breaking down, it sounds like you bought a lemon.

I have heard off and on stories about KWA, but when I held yours it felt very solid and nice. I am deeply sorry for your loss, Octose, you must've received a lemon. Phoenix had a similar problem with his, unless I am mistaken, and he concluded that he also had a lemon. I wish you luck with acquiring another AEG. May I suggest a Classic Army?

KWA does have great gearboxes, but as League said, they have no where near the best quality gears on the market. Again, I am sorry for your loss and I feel your pain.

Also, if you want to get it fixed, do what Ash said, I am sure AONW can fix it for less than KWA will.
