Prescription Airsoft/shooting eyeglasses?

Postby GacktC » Mon Aug 30, 2010 4:41 am

Hello there,
Any suggestion to buy a pair of RX Airsoft/shooting glasses online? I have been google around, but all I found was Safty goggles, buy ours' frame & then RX at your home town, or really expensive shooting glasses.
Any online stores that I could simply choose the frames, & submit my RX readings online?
I am hardly able to see my feet with glasses under the shooting goggles, really hard to aim with 2 pair of lenses, double visions sometimes (walking up the hill or down, very dangerous), and inconvience to take off the goggles with glasses underneath & very uncomfortable with the tightness when both are on.

Thank you so much.

Gac, I bought a pair of polycarbonate lenses and added safety shields at the local KP optomitrist $300 + expensive ....yes, I have had eye surgery and want to protect what is left.

You pay extra for prescription and choosing polycarbonate material. So comes out to $100+ once said and done.

THey are not cheap but they do meet al the the ANZI safety requirements for safety glasses and that is Oakley. You can get the frame of your choice for the most part and they are great glasses. I just bought the Half Jackets so I can exchange lenses as money allows me to buy new lenses with my RX in them in different shades.
Like I said I know they are expensive but my eyes are worth the expense.

$26 from here: http://www.zennioptical.com/home.php?cat=27

I got #700261 but do not like them, the prescription seems off. The lenses are small and the glasses are tight for my giant head. Don't like the tint either.

702023 looks like a better choice.

O.G.R.E. but we need glasses.

I seem to remember Redd having a pair of shooting glasses that you can put your prescription lenses in, and that have a flip-down ANZI-rated shield. They were like $30 from Outlet, I think.

Yeah I have a pair of the ASO flip up shooting glasses with the prescription inserts. They work well. The lenses cost me about $100 and the only place that would make them was binyons in washington square mall.

I fortunately do not need glasses just yet but I have been asked by several people about RX shooting glasses in the past. So I went to my friend who owns Vancouver Eye care and explained the issue. I gave him a pair of ESS goggles, and a pair of Winchester shooting glasses about three weeks ago. he told me that it would take about two weeks to get them back and he could keep the price in the $50 to $60 range for either. If anyone is interested in these glasses, PM me and I can hook you up with the Optometrist. I will speak to him tomorrow about this issue again and see if I cant work out a deal for Airsofters needed RX shooting glasses. I will post on this thread tomorrow.

I too am a glasses wearer and what I did was take my ESS goggles and had them converted to Bitter End stamped steel mesh. The ESS goggles fit perfectly over my glasses, and now that they are mesh, I have no fogging issues at all. Plus, the complaint of mesh is that BBs can fragment and end up in my eye, but that won't happen being that I am wearing my eye glasses, which essentially become a second level of protection. I know you said you can't see your feet with the goggles on, but I thought I would let you know my solution as it has worked well for me.

I know you can get RX inserts or lenses for each Wiley X glasses on their site. Shogun has been rocking his since he started.

+1

I did the exact same thing. Being able to swap out the lenses is great. I've got several sets non presciption for when I wear contacts. Unlike the Wiley's I had before, I have zero distortion with the Oakleys. I got horrible headaches from the distortion.

Thank you for the info guys!
The links provided above got pretty good price, too bad my medical insurance doesn't cover eyeglasses, otherwise I will go for the Oakley or Wiley X..
polycarbonate lenses will be good enough right?
Thanks again!
