Need Input: How can we make the Game Better

Postby LoneWolf808 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 4:56 pm

Hey there guys, I know most of you guys are from the pacific Northwest and have been playing for a few years, if not longer

I would just like some input in how we can improve the games in Hawaii,

Here is the Video:

DISCLAMER: This game, although it looks like a rouge game, is actually sactioned, it is played on the ranch property with the permission of the Ranch owner, we do have Ref's and a strict Minium Engagement Distance rules and Such are enforced at this Field

Sorry for the Bad quality video, but its the best we got.

The Game type is a Normandy Type Game, the Group of people standing around in the begining are (Ok please bare with me) on a Higgins Boat

There are 7-8 Defenders on the hill in front of them, and they are allowed to shoot as soon as the Attackers leave the "Higgins Boat"

The Attackers Win if They either wipe out the Defenders, or plant and set off a bomb at the top (The Bomb is this alarm thing that you pull to set off a loud ringing noise to signal it has be detonated, and you can only do this in a certian area at the top of the hill)

The defenders win if they can hold the base up top (Trust me, that freaking Hill is a climb in it self )

I just wanted some opinions from more experenced Players on how we can improve our games here, i will definetly pass the comments on to the field owner who may adjust the rules as he sees fit

By the Way, this not a Large Op or anything, just a casual Every 2 week game

Thanks, and Mahalo!

Camo requirements tend to give a more professional feel to an event. And death rags are always a good idea.

Also, I'd like to ask, why the huge numbers of masks? They don't seem to be shooting close enough to really need them, so if they're required, that isn't strictly necessary. And if you don't have one, a well-run website would help you put together some great events.

Besides that, this looks like an awesome event, I'd love to attend something like that up here.

I noticed it largely turned into a stalemate towards the end, just a row of shooters.

You could run a special event at which you train everyone in the basic art of cover jumping (one man covers, other advances and repeat).

Also, encouraging teams is a great idea. Gets some guys that have put some training in out on the field, and encourages a lot of competitiveness.

One: used different colors of duct tape to mark your team’s. this is a cheap, easy and fast way to mark side’s. (find it at the hardwear store)

Two: for this game if you are playing the Normandy beach invasion this is the right amount of cover. However unless you’re going to play that game every single time. Add more structures, cover, slit trenches (which might not be possible at all due to the rocks *shrug*) anything that allows people to move around with a minimal amount of cover.

Three: layer the objectives. don’t just say get to the top of the hill and kill everyone in your way. Add additional things to do that are secondary to your primary objective. I.e. recover scattered ammo cans for additional points, recover sector control colors for points.

four: add additional reward to recover. “find the supply can for an additional arty strikeâ€

If you want to appeal to the military demograph it is great to have a Map of your area with grid lines. These lines should represent a distance and be fairly accurate to the ground. I have used Goodle Earth for arial images and then used Paint to add grid lines at 100m intervals.

Encourage uniforms of some kind....offer SWAG or extra raffle tickets for teams with uniforms.
