Thanks for the feedback guys!

I have no idea how the Tachyon would compare to the Contour Hd but I would say that the Contour would pip it for the moment because its obviously HD whilst the Tachyon isn't.Now the Contour uses a fish-eye lens the same as the GoPro Hero - which I don't like. i banged off an email to Tachyon yesterday and they said there is a HD model in the pipelines, as yet there is no release date.

hope this helps

I had a similar camera with the same form factor, hated it. The resolution was milky and low quality. This one is slightly better, but I still like the stuff from helmetcamera.com better, albeit it's probably more expensive.

Yup they're lipstick cams with mounting hardware, not all-in-one units. Most of the time we have tons of gear and pouches anyway, so it's not a big deal to run a DV recorder.

They sell packages, and they sell the camera by itself. I would advise just buying the camera alone and maybe the aircraft aluminum mount, but buy your DVR recorder elsewhere. They bundle a cheap chinese flipcam knockoff and it's kind of expensive.

I have this:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/5 ... ition.html

B&H has several of these Aiptek brand DVRs at all different price ranges. That one is essentially the same as the one they bundle with the helmet camera, but it's $20 cheaper and shoots HD. Whichever model you pick, just make sure it has AV in and AV out. The more expensive versions have features that won't effect your helmet camera anyway, but if you planned to use it stand-alone for fun or whatever else some of those features might come in handy.

Yeah, they'll work with any recording device with a AV in.

has anyone used on of these?: http://aspiring.en.alibaba.com/product/ ... _W021.html
I saw them at a gun store in my area, and i was wondering what kind of picture quality they might have.

I was also wondering about a gun mounted camera http://adrenalinecamera.com/product_inf ... 9954456226

Found a youtube with those glasses, shows footage from the glasses at the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-1MON6tCUQ

Shitty sound quality. Picture is "ok."

That gun cam you link is the same as 1,000 other rebranded versions of that camera. There's several different mounts available for it. Quality wise, the video is decent, sound almost always sucks. The thing about gun cams is you end up pointing your gun at the ground a lot, unless you are terrible at muzzle discipline. It's better to have the camera on your head so it looks where you look.
