Postby Patrick750 » Thu Aug 05, 2010 3:47 pm

My marpat is fading, is there a way to reverse it? I know this is a quesiton more suit for my mom but i doubt she knows how to care for BDU's better than you guys. If it helps they are propper bdu's.

I thought that was normal, they fade, they are clothes.

Wash them with Detergent that is fade resistant, Do not wash them with White Clothes.

Got the same problem with my boonie. I really have no idea, but I'd say wash them less.
Please, I insist.

Yeah, if you wash em every week BDU's fade pretty quick if you don't use fade resistant detergent or if you wash them with other clothes. It sucks pretty bad. My tiger stripes were green when I got them, it's been less than a year and they're pretty much grey.

trick to slow down the fading process is to turn the pants and blouse inside out before you throw them in the wash.

Make sure to button up the blouse or else turning it inside out won't actually do much good.

I could always use them as desert camo. The browns are tan and the greens are getting bad too. At least now my old woodlands come in handy now.

Also, cold water wash with black clothes. The fading is irreversible, unfortunately...

This is what I do, but it only delays the inevitable. Nothing lasts forever.

Do what military reenactors do to keep stuff from fading... don't wash it.

Who wants to be parade ground clean while playing, anyways?

Mine haven't faded much at all and I've been using them for almost 2 years vigorously. Wash them and then don't put them through the drier just let them air dry

This.
Besides, washing your camo is bad luck. ;)

Wash them when you can no longer stand them, and when you do, use your quickest cycle with cold water only. In the past, my Marpat was more prone to fading.

All my woodland have seen years of use between guard, airsoft, paintball etc and have never really faded significantly. Just lucky I guess.
