Postby Patrick750 » Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:29 pm

i have a kwa m9 ptp and i want the orange tip gone. it's not threaded nor are there any threaded barrels that fit in the newer version (mine). i was thinking to paint, what sort of paint do i use? also i cant(or don't want to) remove/cut it off.

You could just spray paint it, which is what I've done to my ridiculously long Dragunov flash hider. It's your choice, but I would leave a small slit of orange just in-case. Also, put some painters tape on any areas that are in danger of being spray-painted if you chose to do so. Black spray paint works. Just for safety, and to re-iterate my point, you might want to leave at least a little slit of orange left, but that is your choice.

Bad idea to remove orange end.... I know it does not look cool. Safety and legal reasons abound why you should reconsider this.

I tend to use rustoleum(correct brand name?), but that is just because it's easy to find at the local home centre.
I also agree with DJ, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
I've heard to many stories of people getting knee deep in sh** because they did this.

i'll leave some on. it has a really big orange tip. the ratio of orange tip to the rest of the gun seems a bit off.

The orange on the PTP is most likely powder coat. There fore it is a phony pony and a half to get off. If you paint it, it won't match the rest of the gun, and will still look like shit. Just leave it on there. Yes, it looks bad, but still it's better then having a pistol that looks like crap.

so looking bad is better than looking like crap? when someone finally makes a new barrel that has a threads i'll be the first to buy it, and add a silencer.

The best way to get it off is an all purpose solvent like mustard. Coat the paint really well with it, or if your gun has a plastic tip glued on, get as much mustard into the seams as possible.

Either, but if it has the big pieces of seed in it like some of the spicier varieties, it's harder to get in all the little cracks.

There are no legal concerns about removing the orange from the tip. This is only for customs regulations.

If the barrel is metal, I'd try using some nail polish remover.
