To the people bitching about bio ammo and field hosts, you don't have to buy their ammo. The current policy is ANY FACTORY MARKED BIO-AMMO from the list posted in the first post.

Here is 3500rds of .25bio for $12: http://www.airsplat.com/Items/B25-3500-BIO.htm

Ends up being about $18+ for 3500rds after s&h.

I will be offering ammo again beginning with Faction Wars.

I will be providing 4000rds for $15 of either .20g or .25g

The more you order, the cheaper the shipping. 4 bags ends up being about $15/bag shipped. 6 bags for $14 shipped. $13.80 for 10 bags... Just saying that if people don't like your prices, there are other places with different prices.

Jester, suggesting that because there is a policy means it doesn't need defending is like saying we don't need a military because no one's invading us. The defense of the current policy against those who are currently protesting it shows that there is vested interest in the way things are. If folks like Darius didn't speak up that we'd have a board full of complaining that made it look like everyone preferred the old way, which might promote a change in policy that would lead to complaining from others.

Healthy debate is part of society. Live with it. *shrug* :)

I don't really know what your point was, but here is mine:

People are bitching about $18 prices for ammo that is sold at the field. The ammo policy does not restrict you to buying ammo sold at the field, therefore people are free to shop around for best price on bio ammo. My previous post shows a location where you can get bio ammo for under $15 a bag. Yes, you have to order multiple bags, however ammo does not have a shelf life. It won't go bad (assuming you don't store your ammo outside on the ground out of the bag).

So if you don't like the price of the bio ammo sold at the field, or at a specific retailers location, then shop around.

I missed where Jester "suggested" anything like this.

EDIT: Although we're talking about spending vs saving, so I guess it's not really the same.

The current policy is any bio ammo, but it could change in the future. And it probably should, for larger games, and at places with people like Greg in charge (SniperzDen).

Say if we did had to buy field ammo... if people are concerned about quality, I think I would agree with those who suggested having 2 options. I don't mind shooting the cheaper AirSplat bio ammo at all. It works good enough for me. There's a small minority of squeaky wheels here who complain about ammo quality, but I think the large majority of players and 90% of the new folks will shoot whatever you give them. And in that case, "good enough" is fine.

If people are going to complain about the ammo when there's a "precision grade" option they don't want to pay for, then they have no grounds to complain unless they are willing to shell out more cash. If I were running an Airsoft field and wanting to require my own ammo, I would offer at least 2 options. You have to be able to cater to the run-and-gun newb with a stock AEG and you have to be able to cater to the seasoned veteran with the 6.01 tightbore.

your snide remark does not change the validity of the statement.
If you find that this HOBBY is too expensive find a different one.

I think he has a point, Brandon.

When you're going to 2-4 bigger games a month, stuff adds up.
It's not the same as just buying shit and reselling it.

It's not about the hobby being too expensive, it's about keeping it from becoming too expensive.

Or like every other industry in the world, try to make it cheaper.

So while the debate/chatter rages on, please keep in mind this is only a temporary exception to the field ammo rule. This is not a permanent situation.

I asked to have the field policy changed for several reasons.

Some of the main ones were:

To make sure everyone had a length of notification before the policy takes effect. This way you all would have a chance to burn off any old ammo if you desired without feeling left stuck with a bunch of investment in bio that you couldn't use at Sniperzden. We will provide a minimum 6 month notice if/when we begin field ammo policy again. I'm sure it will become effective starting Jan 1st 2013

Also to make sure that we are sourcing field ammo in such a way that we could keep prices down (far down as reasonable). My goal is to be able to provide you with field ammo at a very competitive price. I am closely monitoring the pricing situation and will do my very best to provide you with affordable quality ammo. The goal is the $15 price point. I am also looking at premium brands only.

But keep in mind that this is not a monopoly situation for myself. I am only speaking on my behalf. It will be up to the event host to source ammo for his/her event. They do not have to go through me to source but they could of course.

When we are ready to announce the new changes and the effective date, there will be a video produced with Greg and I that will announce it.
