I still have a problem with you limiting 'milsim' in your minds to only a specific time period and only specific units.

It's still milsim to have 2006-2007 SF unit with a supporting group of Local Gov't soldiers versus a rag-tag group of rebels.

Guess what? These SF guys are gonna have EOTechs and Vertgrips and rail systems. Guess what? They're gonna be wearing a CIRAS, or some other sort of modern body armor.

My point is this: I say I want milsim, and you're saying that I don't because I don't want to play 1989 US Army infantry.

I do want milsim. It's just that I may want to milsim 2007 SF or 2008 private contractor.

Like I said, take your tunnel out of the picture.

Mutlicam, plate carriers, modern weapons systems with aftermarket accessories (rails, vertical grips, possibly suppressors, and potentially tactical lights, lasers and optics).

Adam is spot on with this. I think the milsim element can exist without this historical reenactment element that everyone seems to be associating with it. You can have uniforms and real capacity magazines and compelling story-lines and pyrotechnics and vehicles and a clear command structure and interesting missions and objectives without requiring everyone to run around in ancient ALICE gear with an M16A1.

I think the "Excellent Backstory", "Location" and "Props, Vehicles, and Pyro" make up for the having to defend a bridge for 4 hours thing. True mil-sim doesn't have to be boring, with good planning and a well executed OP it can be a memorable experience for everyone involved.

There's a fine line between poor event planning and realistic mil-sim. The entertainment factor can be just as important as the realism factor, and with a good balance of both the game can be fun for anybody, no matter what they're stuck doing.

id much rather have half rate props, and a group of individuals playing with the correct mindset.

18+
Real caps
strict uniform regs.

this is a start.

Agreed. There are some outstanding community members here who are also minors, but the overwhelming majority of the under-18 crowd here isn't worth being cannon fodder.

Well, again I am biased because of my age, but not too biased.

I dont see myself as a total tool on the field, but thats for you to decide.

I see both arguements here.

The pro 18+ crowd:
-Most minors in the airsoft world are tools. You cant fix stupid.
-Most of those minors dont follow orders, and it goes from MilSim to clusterfuck in a short time.
-Nobody under 18 is put into a combat zone as part of the armed forces. So having them there can throw off the vibe.

The Pro Minors arguements:
-Not all minors are fuckheads.
-Some do follow orders and do as they are told in the combat zone.
-Some do save up to buy propper gear, weapons and uniforms

Notice how in the pro minors Some is used more, and in the pro 18+ its most.

Now, I would love to take orders all day and do as I am told. Why? Cause I respect you guys, you have all been airsofting for a while longer then I have. But I understand and respect your choice to make these games 18+.

I'm always up for playing specialty roles though. I could sell chiclets on the street :D.

In other words, I can wait till I am older or if you guys invite me. Hell, I am not the one running the game.

According to 10 U.S.C., 505, the minimum age for enlistment in the United States Military is 17.
