Sniperzden FIELD AMMO ONLY

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

Postby Riddick » Wed Feb 08, 2012 10:12 am

I just got a email back from a plastics manufacturer that can put a die in the bio ammo to make it a particular color and still maintain it's 100% biodegradibility. It will take a min order of $15k to pull this off which I can do if I scale back some of my orders for the stores namely the Vancouver location for now.

So what I can propose is this:

Each player has two options everytime they visit sniperzden:

1. Bring a bag of unopened factory sealed ammo from the list of approved manufactuers each time

or

2. Buy the colored field ammo which will be honored if it's sealed or unsealed since it will be a unique color. This way if you buy 4K rounds and only use a 1k rounds, you can decide to use it at other fields or save it and use solely for sniperzden field.

This ruleset is not going to be designed to favor me in anyway because honestly let's face it, I'd rather order a $1,000 of ammo at a time from MadBull or G&G or Spartan Imports here in the US than to order $15K worth of ammo at a time to make this happen but like I said previously, I want to find a scenario that will work for us and keep the owners happy.

I know that Splat Action was talking about going to field ammo and so has Camp R&R. Since I supply a few of the hosts, I could see this as a way to make a unified transition so that all the fields would accept it if they choose to go that way to keep it even simplier for us. Plus it makes my investment less risky for me but this is just a thought and they may choose not to.

But keep in mind irregardless of the rule. Everyone would have to bring their ammo to registration which honestly won't affect things too much.

I don't see why not since it can be pre-validated because you would have it as one lump sum to hand out. Hopefully this in turn would give us more sponsorships as well.

That sounds like a great proposal. Resolves the issue going forwards as long as you are willing to make the investment.

"You must buy your ammo from the host at the game or provide to them evidence that your ammo is biodegradeable, namely in the form of a new tamper-proof sealed bag every time you attend a game."

If there is any caveat to either of those conditions, then I'm not exactly sure what this accomplishes.

Since I'm just now burning through the last of a stock of 35,000 rounds purchased three years ago, it's time to go buy a new sealed bag anyway.

That being said, I rapidly envision myself owning 10+ partially used bags and not being able to use any of them because they've all been opened. I'm not a high volume shooter, especially if I'm running a bolt-action platform.

Exactly my point^

Sounds good to me. Having options is the only way to make this work. The players aren't going to like being forced to use the field ammo only. If other fields want to start requiring it, I think it's crucial that they all stick to the same color. That makes it simple for everyone involved. We're more likely to phony pony about field ammo if we need a different ammo for every field.

No, what I said was that bio shots .36 round was terrible according to the feedback of players that bought them.

And how does this other .36g bio bb that I cant find anywhere cost? Where can I find em, do you sell them, can you sell them in the sniperzden "field color"? Just wanna figure how this'll work best for snipers too. Does this bio bb you're refferring to perform well? Whatever you can do would be awesome Rick.

I have yet to see more than a handful of people with a bolt you could call a "sniper" the rest run around taking bad shots and avoiding the bio ammo requirements sometimes using non bio lower weights just because no one checks.

I've had the same small bag (1000 or less) of .43s for probably three years now. I have yet to see a bio bb that is consistent enough to put through one of my bolts. I could care less about what I feed through my AEGs.

I know, people who do that suck to me. I guess I should've used the term bolt-users, because few people really keep the integrity. All my ammo is bio, and most of it I bought from Rick. My personal issue is, I need heavier bbs and if they are bio, I need them to be reliable. I'm counting on Rick to know where I can get them, he's far better at getting em than I am. Either way if there is a field-ammo color that he has that I can buy, I'll buy em straight from Rick. Bio or non. I have bio sniper rounds, but onky up to .28g, so and it didnt cost me much. So since I need heavier bbs, I have no issue paying Rick for them.

This rule being in place is a good idea to me, it could be worse. I just need a heavier ammo thats approved for SniperzDen, and I know I can count on Rick. If I catch a bolt user running around using non-bios that aren't an approved weight, I'll say something about it to the admins/host. Personally, I love ghillieing up, digging in, and taking those cautious, calculated, intelligent shots.

I'm liking where this is going. Not so much of the have to buy at the field only idea, but doing approved bio ammo is cool with me.

Only one this I ask for is that Rick make sure you get the bb's in good ammo bags. I got some from you over the summer that came in the black plastic bags and they all ripped open. I had to put the bb's in other plastics bags, including one unmarked bag which is going to suck with this new policy, since I can't really use those bb's now until I can use up the ones in my bio marked bag. I like those blue bagged one's you used to sell.

I agree with Russkie, I like the idea of only being able to use field approved ammo is good, Better quality ammo=less gun jams, and better accuracy and that shananigans.
