Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

And now that we have that over with, is that the only article out about the seizure?

I seem to remember there were several updates after the initial seizure last year...

There have been many small seizures, just nothing this big.
Please, I insist.

I have an AGM SCAR and it's not to bad... but anyway getting back, I'm not to concerned about this thing. The Chinese government is just as corrupt as any other government, and small seizures will continue but I don't think that them clones will be going away anytime soon... Oh ya and Bad Karma +1.

I have turned out so many CA, TM, and ICS pieces of shit for repair its ridiculous. I've fixed ground gears, cracked or blown gearboxes, stripped screws, and random parts that have just 'fallen off' to the point of wondering why the hell the places still remain in business.
I've worked on 3 clones, and that was only to downgrade 2 of them because they came in shooting too hot to use on the field and one to change a blown piston.
I've owned several clones in my heyday, and during that time I've mixed and matched parts while *trying* to kill one or two just to see how far they can go.
Mixing random gearsets, shim depths, tossing 3 gearboxes worth of parts together in a bag and just plucking things out to put them together...I've yet to have a clone give up the ghost on me.
Yes, I've had wear related failures, like old pistons but nothing catastrophic to warrant a complete gun failure like seeing the front of a gearbox completely blown off of an ICS AK..or dumping powder and shavings out of the cylinder of a stock CA M4..(I still dont know how the hell that crap got in there.)

I tout the clones because their failure rate is so low compared to the 'high dollar' guns. Thats all there is to it.
Cost and Affordability are 2 of the things that are going to allow this game/sport to grow - otherwise you're going to cut out all of the future players that allow it to prosper and where will that leave you? Right back when it was beginning to hit the PacNW and there were only 20 guys rolling onto the field, because those are the 20 that can throw down the cash to sling some plastic.
My 2 cents.

Ive put my hands in roughly 2000 guns in the last 18 months, im not going to try to add up the # of guns i worked on in the 5 years previous to that. I have a pretty good idea what goes wrong with guns, china clones and otherwise. Your statement may be true in regards to the guns you specifically worked on, but i can assure you it does not represent an accurate statistical analysis of the market in general. to accurately represent your case we need more information.

how often were the guns you worked on used? how were they treated? what kind of ammo/ batteries were the people who owned them using, how old were they, were they the first 2nd 3rd owner? did they work on them themselves at any point?

Ca guns today have very little in common with CA guns from 6 years ago, KWA guns of today are significantly better than they were 2 years ago, and china clones have improved as well.

CA, KWA, and G&G are top notch guns, and are in fact mechanically superior to "china clones" they use better materials, more precise molds, more machined parts, stricter QC standards, and they provide a warranty in the event that they did screw something up.

Or the officer in charge had to come up with something nearing the end of the year so he can stay in his office next year, better still, get a promotion.

This is True, My Cheap a$$ CYMA AK that is 3 years old has all original parts and has never stopped firing for 3 years. I got is used for 50$

Dboys makes Fantastic Replicas, With a line of AKs made of 90% steel Externals!

I will be hoarding any Cheap China gun i can get. All the guns i own are China, Stock, they never had problems UNLESS i opened and did something to it. (Now that is not so common, i know what i am doing now)

I like my clones (Dboys m4 clone of TM M4, TSD VSR-10 clone of TM VSR-10, KJW M700 clone of Tanaka M700). Yes, they are all clones. For me they work fantastic. They are priced in my price range. They kill just as many people as Jewish Ninja with his G&P Defender. Buy what you want. If you want to spend $400 on an airsoft gun, great. If you want to spend $150 on one, fantastic. Do what makes you happy and damn the rest. All airsoft guns break. It is a matter of time. Accept that, and life will be ok...

Hopefully china clones will still be around ( I'm quite doubtful of them leaving, despite what the big bad commies say). Remember how much a CA M249 cost before A&K brought out their M249? $900. Before there was a large influx of cheaper stuff, TM, CA, ICS etc could gouge players on the prices because they had nowhere else to go. Having a larger market to pick from is good, since it allows for more competition, which in turn usually leads to new designs, and different replicas. I personally love having so many choices when it comes to what replicas there are available to buy. I could buy a VFC AK74SU, for $500~ or I could get a Dboys version of the same thing for $130~. Having options is good. Having lots of options is better ;)

As for this seizure "killing the hobby" I call BS. Yes, there will always be people that can't afford a brand new G&P/G&G/KWA etc, but there will always be a used market to pick from. There may be a smaller player base, but if someone is unsure about spending $300 on a toy gun, they might not have the conviction to stick with the hobby. I'd much rather play with 30 dedicated players than 100 people in it because they have nothing better to do and some spare cash.

So besides all the China Clone vs. Non-Clone hating going on, which is all just opinion, does this seizure of AEG’s really mean that all China companies are going to stop making their AEG’s?

I doubt it, and if so I am sure someone will take up the lower cost AEG market. Also many non mainland China companies, G&G & CA to name a few, make cheaper entry level AEGs.

Maybe we should split this thread into a discussion about what is going on with mainland China’s AEG manufacturing, and another one for everyone to fight about why their current AEG is the best and why their opinion is right and everyone’s is wrong.
