I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

I actually wasn't directing any of that comment at you, it was simply your comment that triggered the response.

You quoted my response, then addressed me directly. I do appreciate your clarification, though.

To respond to your intended general point, I'd argue that people are responsible for themselves, not others. If a bunch of teenagers are acting like chucklefucks, it's not the fault of the older players that shun them. The older players shun them because they are acting like chucklefucks. While harsh, it's been effective at making decent players out of annoying ones (i.e. JuiceMachine), and making absent players out of scandalous ones (i.e. CaptDOA).

IDC about the +18 w/ invites rule. Or even the +21 rule, it's your game your rules. But I don't think I come off as a annoying 14 year old when I started posting on AP. Also I have only been reprimanded once here, and that was just a 3 minute AP chat bann for a misunderstanding. I know a majority of kids younger than 18 usually only stay for the summer and just ask worthless questions and just be annoying. But some of us do wanna play without being judged by our age... I fully cooperate with the gaming admins and hits and such, but meh I'm biased on the subject since I'm16 myself, but that's just my opinion.

I beg to differ.
No one mentored me to play airsoft when I was under age, yet somehow I manage to conduct myself with integrity and respect on the field.
Most of the aging community you refer to could probably say the same thing.
How do you suppose that happened?

Values, ethics, whatever you choose to call it.
It comes from parenting and maturing. Both of which take time. More for some than others.

I'm a dad of three kids. I love them and nurture their growth.
While I airsoft for many reasons, one of the major ones is to escape.

I'm not interested in parenting someone else's kids.
Mentor-ship? I lead by example on the field.
If their parents want to join them on the field and parent their behavior, I will be glad to set a positive example through my own.

That is because you were raised right. Somebody had to put the time in, somewhere, to teach you those values. If no one has taught these kids those values, they are going to show up at the airsoft field and do whatever they want.

You make an interesting point about their parents. I am sure for a lot of people it wouldn't make a difference, but if their mothers and fathers knew they were being a dishonest disrespectful player on the field it would have real consequences at home and they might start cleaning their act up. Maybe we need to start threatening kids with "Don't make me tell your parents"!

Guess I'll respond to this before I lock it.... Especially since it's directed at me.

Yes, I'm having an 18 plus game. Yes, it's for liability issues. The field is a very thick field and is very easy to get lost in. I don't want to have to go searching for some kid if he gets lost. I don't feel like being responsible for anyone's children, on that day.

Do I do with with everygame? No. I host a lot of games where the under 18 are allowed to play. Most Scappoose games I host are 14 and up. Don't get your panties in a bunch because a few games out of the hundreds posted every year are 16 or 18 plus.

Catch22 wrote:Don't forget... There' isn't a rule that says only certain people can host games. If you want to host a game a certain way or think you can do better than others... Go for it. Knock yourself out. Enjoy!

If you don't want uderage players, people over 40, or people with existing injuries coming to your game. You are free to do so. You are also free to allow everyone to go to your games. Enjoy your freedom!
