i was going to suggest gravel. wood chips are absorbent.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

Yeah gravel is probably your best bet, allows water to drain and also cheaper than wood chips decomposing lol

The house is getting lowered. We originally ran into a grade issue with the building, but we are fixing that. The house is being dropped to just above the ground. This will add easement to moving the modular interior walls. I want to keep you boys (and girls) on your toes....lol

This all sounds very nice. maybe a few fences would be good, and maybe half a house(bombed out) would be cool

In a 1000 sq ft building, how many rooms do you like?

4-6

Build it like a 3 bedroom house or have a shit ton of rooms?

Both

More windows or less?

More - with shutters.

Props inside the buildings?

Absolute must.

Swinging doors or not?

Door also must.

Extra wide door opening or standard 30" like a house?

Standard.

I was at your facility this weekend, and If I may, several suggestions; #1 some mud control ASAP, gravel ( ouch) or hog fuel will prevent the movement of your soil to unwanted locations and having pits form , which brings up #2 Unwanted debris; lots of nails, scrap metal etc oh and that downed fence. That is a screaming liability for you. Get rid of it. The field has some real potential. At first I hated the old buildings, after CQC clearing them and using them in some field combat exercises, they grew on me. An open sided structure / pole building at the registration area would be a great addition in the inclement / hot weather. It gets pretty soggy when it is coming down like it does in Oregon for about 9 months of the year. All in all great place, thanks for making it available!

Thanks DJ for the input. We traditionally bring up two large pop up tents whenever we are there, we had a medium GP tent that was stolen earlier this summer and have yet to replace. I am actually building some new dry area next week (think carport) As far as that fence goes its getting ripped out asap just have not had a work day since it has been in play to do so but thanks for looking out, the board you guys put down was a smart idea at least no one got railed in the shins! The buildings will likely be getting bark chips in them soon, as we knew the mud was gonna get out of control, but like everything its not free and we have to play with what we got for now until we can pay to have it upgraded. That being said the field is always improving and expanding and we always like to hear feedback and constructive advice on things! Yes we would love to have tons of money to build a crazy huge village etc etc and it will happen someday! Just keep on coming out and supporting the field and it will always get better.

Go for hog fuel (bigger chunks) if you can get it. It does not squish into the mud so quickly and thus will last longer. Its actually used in muddy hog lots, thus the name.

Also the construction methods you have out there are built solid, but the way they're built won't last over a year with the Oregon weather.
